FITA round, in the sport of archery, a form of target shooting competition used in international and world championship events, authorized by the Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc (FITA), the world governing body of the sport.
The round formaly consisted of 144 arrows, 36 at each of 4 distances. 90, 70, 50 & 30 meters at a 122 cm target for a possible score of 1440 or a double round of 2880. And all archers had to wear white.
It has since been changed and now recurve shooters still shoot the 122 cm target but only at 70 m for adults and and compound shooters shoot at 50 m on a 80 cm target and all shoot 72 arrows for a possible score of 720 or a double round of 1440.
