The Harrisburg Weightlifting Club in NC is made up of a diverse group of dedicated Olympic-style weightlifters. We are a competitive team dedicated to expanding the sport of Olympic lifting in Harrisburg NC and beyond, and always looking to expand our group and develop the next genera

tion of outstanding American weightlifters. We follow and compete in events regulated by USA Weightlifting, the governing body for the sport of Weightlifting in the Olympics. With age groups ranging from Schoolage (under age 17), Juniors (ages 18-20), Seniors (ages 21 and up), and Masters (ages 35 and up), there are competition levels for everyone. Lifting competitions(meets) consist of the Sn**ch and Clean & Jerk, and are judged by bodyweight class and gender. Competition levels range from local meets and state championships, to National, International, World Championships, and Olympic Games. Some colleges also have weightlifting teams, and offer scholarships to high-caliber lifters. We have the knowledge and experience to help you accomplish whatever goals you have set for yourself. Olympic lifting is, without question, one of the most valuable types of training when it comes to developing overall explosive power, strength, speed, fast-twitch muscle fiber recruitment, and jumping ability. Whether you are a high school/middle school student, college athlete, aspiring or professional athlete, the Olympic lifts can help you develop that raw, functional strength needed for your individual sport. Our Vision:

The vision of the Harrisburg Weightlifting Club is to insure that each and every member has every opportunity to succeed and grow. Our club is open to anyone who aspires to learn the techniques of weightlifting. Whether you want to be a competitive weightlifter, learn how to weight-lift to improve athletic performance, or learn to weight-lift for general health and fitness, we are here to help you achieve those goals. Our training philosophy is centered on long-term, sustainable growth and success as a weightlifter. We work with competitive weightlifters, amateur and professional athletes, and general fitness enthusiasts in a fun, energetic, and family-friendly atmosphere. We do all we can to give our team members every chance to flourish in this sport. We accomplish this through coaching, programming, outside team events, fundraising for travel expenses, flexible gym access, and mentor-ship. As a USA Weightlifting Club, we strive to do everything we can to grow the Olympic sport of weightlifting in the United States. For that reason, we hold our team members to a high standards of conduct both on and off the competition platform. Whether you want to compete, increase your athletic performance for other sports, or simply get better at the lifts for your own enjoyment, we can help accommodate your specific needs.

First round of testing with our new OVR Performance Jump sensors.

A vertical jump is more than just a number—it's one of the best indicators of explosive athletic ability.

Using the OVR Jump laser system, we can objectively measure lower-body power, monitor neuromuscular readiness, and track progress over time.

For Olympic weightlifters, improvements in vertical jump often reflect gains in explosive power, triple extension, and rate of force development.

For athletes, these same qualities transfer directly to sprinting, jumping, changing direction, and overall sport performance.

When you can measure performance, you can train with purpose and monitor real progress.

Test. Train. Track. Transfer.

The Overhead Squat is much more than an Olympic Weightlifting exercise—it's one of the best movements for developing mobility, stability, balance, coordination, and movement quality.

For weightlifters, it builds a stronger Sn**ch receiving position by improving overhead stability, positional strength, and confidence under the bar.

For athletes, it enhances total-body stability, shoulder health, core strength, force absorption, posture, and body control—qualities that transfer directly to sprinting, jumping, cutting, landing, throwing, and changing direction.

Before you can produce maximum power, you need the ability to control it.

The Overhead Squat helps build that foundation.

School Is Back.

Your Development Doesn't Have To Stop.

Many athletes make the mistake of replacing individualized training with a weight room class once school starts.

The problem?

Most school weight rooms are designed for large groups—not individual athletes.

One workout. One progression. One pace.

But athletes don't all have the same goals, strengths, weaknesses, sport demands, injury history, or training age.

The athletes who continue improving throughout the school year are usually the athletes who continue training with purpose.

Individualized training allows athletes to:

✅ Build strength, speed, and power based on their needs
✅ Address weaknesses before they become limitations
✅ Improve mobility and movement quality
✅ Reduce injury risk
✅ Continue progressing instead of simply maintaining

Showing up is important.

Showing up to the right training is even more important.

Train With Purpose. Compete With Confidence.
