Our whitewater rivers are typically in a transitional phase of flow. Laminar flow happens when a fluid moves in smooth parallel layers, with no mixing, eddies, or swirls. Turbulent flow is when a fluid moves in a chaotic, irregular path with rapid change in speed and pressure. The water is in a constant shift between laminar and turbulent flow, and the transitional phases of Laminar to turbulent flow and transitioning from turbulent back to laminar. Here we see the distinct layers crossing over each other.

We just finished up our Kids River Safety & Rescue Summer Day Camp (3-Day).This event was also available through the West Virginia Hope Scholarship Program. All of the kids had so much fun and definitely learned a lot!

We would like to thank River & Trail outfitters in Harpers Ferry, WV, for being proactive in offering this ACA Level: 4 Swiftwater Rescue Course to their river guide staff. The skills and knowledge gained in the last two days are a very important part of being a raft guide. Not only did everyone gain lots of valuable skills, it served as a great team building event.
