Big Congratulations to Gilbert Chavarria who was inducted to the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in in the youth category as "Youth Martial Artist of the Year". Many more pics to come later! During this event Gilbert learned from many masters and grandmasters from many different styles and met legends such as Mark "Cane Master" Shuey, Sifu Freddie Jin, Eric Lee "King of Kata", Boxing legends like Randy "Boom Boom" Blake, and UFC veterans like Clifford Stark. This event is always amazing and seems to get better and better every year. Thursday there was a long day of training, he then competed in a tournament that night and dominated. Friday was again a long day of training, but then he and Sifu Oscar put on a great demonstration of different Kung Fu systems in front of a Grandmaster panel of over 1,000 years of experience! Saturday was a shorter day of training, but then got to eat amazing food, got inducted in front of hundreds of people, and then danced the night away. Thank you to everyone involved in making this an unforgettable event in Vegas with IMAC and TKA!

Great training in San Antonio with Master Ram at the TKA Headquarters working on their forms. Master Ram and myself (Sifu Oscar) were even able to train some stick and tactical knife. Thank you for everything Master Ram!

Congratulations to Gilbert Chavarria and Christa Olivarez. Christa Olivarez competed in her FIRST EVER tournament she started off with a strong form winning 2nd. She even competed in fighting and got 3rd. Gilbert competed in intermediate contemporary division taking 1st, he also competed in intermediate traditional taking first. Gilbert fought two hard battles, but did not place in Sparring. Both Gil and Christa were supposed to compete in traditional weapons, but due to a mishap did not compete. There is no doubt in my mind they would have placed. Congratulations to both I am very proud! Gilbert also competed in 17 and under grand champion division for the first time and fell just a few points away from a grand title.

Gilbert had a great time at the battle for ALS tournament in San Antonio today. He only had time to compete in forms where he had a three way tie for first place in a good size intermediate division. He did another form and ended up with 2nd place after the tie breaker. He got to take pictures with three legends, one of them being a true warrior! God bless you Zach from your HWMA family.

Gilbert Chavarria competed for the first time in 2024 in the intermediate division. Gil only competed in Traditional hand forms and Traditional Weapons because he had a football event to attend in Brownsville the same day. This was also the first time Gilbert competed with a broadsword form as oppose to his award winning staff form. He received 3rd place in the Traditional weapons category. Gilbert received high praise, and encouragement from the great Tony Kattengell. Thank you sir for your time and words.
