We hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend so far! A little motivation to help back for this upcoming week.

If you like quitting because you are afraid of failing on your goal. Remember that failure is apart of becoming the best version of yourself.

With that failure comes persistence. Persistence is something that can only be learned through hardships. If you never fall down, you can’t learn how to get back up. Each time we pick ourselves back up and forge through, we get a little bit stronger and more capable of achieving our ultimate goals.

Benefits of kids doing MMA!

Discipline Skills:

When a kid follows a sport with strict rules and that requires following the coach’s rules to the letter, it’s guaranteed that your kids will acquire discipline and self-control. The qualities attained will benefit your kids’ lives greatly, as they ‘ll grow into well-behaved adults capable of taking care of themselves.

Social Skills:

When doing MMA your kid will experience teamwork. It teaches kids to accept others no matter their social background, ethnicity or age, and to cooperate to achieve their mutual goals.

That feeling of camaraderie you get when you train alongside a partner is priceless, and teaching it to your kids would be a great addition to their set of social skills that will benefit them as they grow into adults later in life.

Physical toughness is important!

That said, being physically strong and tough is a pretty big part of the sport. Whether you’re training multiple times a day or trying to stay locked in as a fight wages on, your ligaments, muscles, and skin need to be able to take a toll. While a certain amount of wear and tear is a fact for MMA fighters, recognize when you need a break. Over-training will accentuate existing injuries and create new ones.

If you are looking to add into your MMA game make sure to give the Muay Thai clinch a try.

With the absence of grappling on the ground means that a fighter does not have to worry about making certain mistakes or movements which would leave them open to a ground attack inside the cage

So in order to use the Muay Thai clinch in MMA, you must first work yourself into a position to be close enough to pull it off.

Once you are within range of your opponent, you should typically maintain a parallel stance to your opponent and create an opening in order to grasp one or two hands behind his head.

By keeping your arms inside of your opponents creates the power with which the grip is fastened.

There are a number of different techniques you can use when it comes to the clinch. You have the Double Collar Tie, The Single Collar Tie, and The Double Underhook.

Now you may be thinking the bigger you are the better fighter they must be but that isn’t true. Fighters must have power, quickness, and stamina. In the world of MMA, if you don’t have all three, you aren’t going to last long. MMA fighters don’t have the option to hang back on the ropes and conserve energy.

As a fighter you need to be able to go at 100% for the whole fight. Increased muscle size might give you an advantage in striking, but at the cost of late round endurance. Since muscles take oxygen, the more you have, the more oxygen you’ll require and the quicker you’ll hit a wall. Keep this in mind as you are training.

When you spar use the most basic weapons you have. Jab, cross, hook, kick, knee, and push kick. These simple techniques make up the majority of all professional fights. It’s rare you see a fight where spinning back kicks and flying elbows make up the majority of the bout.

Sticking to the basics will increase your skill and also keep your head free of confusion. Once you’ve learned the basics then you can start practicing all the crazy fun stuff.

Make sure to ask for advice!

From beginner to advanced you always want to improve. After sparring with someone, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Think of it as a partnership. Your sparring partner is your teammate and you will grow if you work together to improve your game. This goes both ways, so don’t hesitate to offer tips and advice if you see something that the person can improve on.

The more knowledge you have during training, the closer you are to becoming a better fighter.

Make sure to have a game plan everytime you go for a practice.

“My goal this session is to…” Then try and select a few key things that you will focus on during a sparring session. For example, you might want to enter a sparring session to try and work on setting up your low kicks.

During the session, focus on throwing that low kick after every punch. This is a great way to improve your kicks.

Realistically, in a fight, you’re not going to throw that low kick after every punch but at least your body is use to certain combinations and there is no hesitation when you want to execute it.

Remember practice makes perfect!
