Farmers Appreciation Night Recap!

Once again, with threatening skies, the Shelby County Speedway got a full night of impressive racing completed. With 128 cars checked in and celebrating Father's Day weekend. We had a free front gate for all provided by Arbor Bank of Oakland, Nutrien AG Solutions of Hancock, and Patriots Choice Contracting of Harlan. We thank them for their sponsorship of this event. The Shelby County Cattlemen grilled prime rib sandwiches, which were popular as we sold out by intermission. Look for those again in the future. We had another great crowd on hand despite the chance of rain. And it was another night of excitement that ended at 10:00 P.M.. And some went home with some very nice giveaways provided by our various sponsors. Many Thanks to them.
Action in the KNOD IMCA Hobby Stock class saw heat races won by Brad Berhenne, Jason Kohl, and Gage Neese. In the feature event. Gage Neese worked his way to the front and went on to pick up his 3rd win of the season/ Finishing in 2nd was Jason Kohl, 3rd Zach Hemmingsen, 4th Colby Christensen, and Derrick Rohe rounded out the top 5/
In the Keast Motors IMCA Sport Mods. Winners of the heats were Kevin Zeitner, Cody Olsen, and Tyler Remmeried. Feature action saw plenty of action as it looked like Cody Olsen had it wrapped up as he battled and got in front of Corey Madden. But coming to the checkers Olsens car lost power coming out of turn four. That allowed Madden to get by at the finish line. Olsen was still scored 2nd with Josh Thompsen 3rd, Kayden Rice 4th and Joe Hendricks 5th. Once again, Kevin Zeitner had to go to the tail after a spin but was able to wheel it back and captured 6th.
Next up, the Joe’s Carting Outlaw mini-mods traveling series point race with 24 cars checked in. Heat winners were John Schwindt, Brextin Platts, and Lucas Daniels. In the feature event, Ben Mattick got out in front and never looked back, scoring the win. Coming home 2nd was Matt Grobe, 3rd to Platts, 4th Tyler Johnson, and Ben Kraus was 5th.
In the Atlantic Bottling Coca-Cola IMCA Sport Compacts. Heat action saw winners Josh Deist, Tyler Fiebelkorn, and Shannon Mahlberg, who is back in action. In the Feature Tyler Fiebelkorn drove his way to the top spot, picking up the win. In a great run, Josh Deist took 2nd, Caine Mahlberg 3rd, Lennie Anders took 4th, and Stefan Halm rounded out the top five. It's good to see the parity in this class emerge weekly.
Next up, the ground-pounding Sorensen Equipment IMCA Late Models. Here again, 3 heats were had and the winners were Zach Zeitner, Logan Cloudt and Aiden Mohr. Feature action saw a first win ever for Derek Daily as he took a front row starting spot and used it for a commanding lead. Daly went on for the win with Allan Hopp closing in, finishing 2nd, Drew Baker 3rd, with Cloudt and Zeitner rounding out the top five. Congratulations to Derek Daly on your first win, great job.
Lastly, the ever-popular Murphy Equipment IMCA Stock Cars put on another great show. Heats were taken by Larry Robinson Jr., Riley Christensen, and Bob Daniels. In the feature, Riley Christensen looked like the man to beat as he battled with Dayton Ullrich and Mike Albertsen as well as Mike Stapleton and Larry Robinson Jr., charging hard. But Christensen spun out in turn four as Ullrich took control with Albertsen in pursuit. Ullrich went on for the win, followed by Albertsen, Stapleton, Robinson Jr., and Scott Carlson, who rounded out the top five. Another great show at SCS . It started sprinkling right after we finished, as we got it in.
