Having a lighter and softer rod was very important for inside the mangroves. Roll casting and short 20 casts were common at times.

Dang it’s been over 2 months since I posted last. I enjoy my breaks from social media time to time but I’ll try harder to stay engaged…. I’ve been busy tying for groups of traveling anglers this summer and currently working on some flies for and a group he’s taking to the Amazon. Here’s some top water flies…. A non fishing highlight was spending time with at his farm. We spent more time talking organic farming than permit fishing. It’s amazing seeing his flourishing gardens growing on tough ground. I invited myself to help him expand his farm in trade for some fishing. Thanks Shakey it was a pleasure spending time with you and the butterflied barracuda was delicious!
