The straight wall 350 Legend and 450 Bushmaster is AR platforms have been a bit of a fuss pot for many shooters over the years.
Whether they are factory weapons or home built, many are experiencing feed issues as well as the failure for the bolt to go fully closed into battery fire position.
This year several hunters experienced these issues again even though their firearm has run flawlessly all summer.
We found this year the problem was mostly attributed to the condensation caused by bringing the firearm into a heated building or truck cab from out of the cold. The condensation made the bolts sticky or tacky. Thoroughly wipe down the bolt each morning prior to hunting!

Other helpful recommendations.
1. Thoroughly wipe down the bolt each morning prior to hunting.
2. Do not overload the magazine, start with 3 rounds, and increase by one at a time if the firearm is running without issues. No not exceed 50% magazine capacity!
3. Avoid exposing the firearm to warm places while hunting to avoid the condensation. Once you’re out in the field keep the firearm in the bed of the truck or in the trunk.
4. Always load the weapon on an open chamber, insert the loaded magazine and use the bolt release paddle to chamber the first round tapping the forward assist to confirm the bolt has fully reached the firing battery position.
5. If you are having to tap the forwards assist to fully go to the battery fire position, remove the buffer and spring and drop a quarter into the buffer tube and re-install the buffer and spring this will give your bolt just a little more forward pressure.

These issues diminish over time, the more rounds you can get through the weapon the better. They have a long break-in period.

I hope this helps folks! Happy Hunting!
