The Ride of Silence is a worldwide cycling event held at 7:00pm the 3rd Wednesday each May to honor cyclists that have been killed or injured while riding on public roads and to raise awareness that both motorists and cyclists need to share the road. The Ride of Silence - Harbor Springs began in 2008 organized by Christopher Benson who was severely injured by a motorist while cycling in 2007. The

ride itself is a slow-paced (no faster than 12 mph) silent ride in and around Harbor Springs. There is no cost, it is all-inclusive and only requires riders to wear a helmet.
