Finally got the picture of the last deer killed durning rifle season. Carlos came with his son and grandson and all of them were able to take good deer. It’s a blessing to see 3 generations of hunters together in the woods, and at 75 he is still showing them how to get it done. Congrats sir on your deer. Looking forward to y’all’s trip next season.

Since moving to Kentucky I haven’t done much hunting myself. I spend my time trying to get deer patterned for hunters. In 2020 I fractured 2 vertebrae opening weekend and although they healed I didn’t try to pull a bow back or shoot a gun again the rest of the season. In 2021 I didn’t want to hunt until after all my hunters had their chance at bucks and come end of the season I didn’t want to wake up early for myself and I may have sat 3-4 times in the evening. This season while having some family in to visit I sat in a tree more than the last 2 season combined. It made for a great memory having to wade out into super cold water to retrieve my deer in the rain. I hit him a little far back and I’m certain he drowned in the pond. Thanks again to Kenzie and liebe with Kentucky k9 deer tracking for saving the day and leading me to the waters edge where I was able to close the book on my first Kentucky whitetail. The season isn’t over yet and I still have good deer on camera. Good luck to anyone who is still hunting. Let’s finish the season strong with more deer on the ground

After a week of hunters my brother was able to show up for a short vacation. He brought his ole Henry lever action in .44mag to try and put some does in the cooler and was blessed with a nice 10 point. his trip was short but successful hunts are always nice, and I love having family in town. Congrats bro!

It has been a year for 8 points. My rifle hunters all took nice 8s. I’m missing photos for one other hunter. I had 3 generations of hunters here which is always awesome to see. Grandpa said he won because his 8 had a small kicker at his base to make a 9 😁. The deer were moving great the first week during rifle. We got a good cold spell and a small amount of snow on opening day and the temps stayed low keeping the deer on their feet. The bucks still weren’t interested in food but they were running scrape lines and scent checking the small plots giving the hunters just enough time to make some great shots. Congrats to all of you. Looking forward to seeing y’all again next season… update:Carlos’s deer added to photos

Now that rifle season is over I’ll try to play catch up on some of the kills we’ve had. These come from the last week or archery before rifle started. With the lack of rain and warmer temps it made hunting harder than usual for this time of year. The hunters were seeing tons of activity from younger bucks running looking for does and completely ignoring food. The does were either locked down with the more mature bucks or just very good at hiding. At 60 years old nick was able to shoot his first deer ever. I told him he didn’t have to be picky so he s**t the first one that came in range and he made a great shot on his 6 point. Kevin decided to go old school and sit on the ground in a thicket. The deer were running the woods and staying out of the food plots. He seen the deer coming on the other side of a creek and decided to grunt at him. The buck made a turn and came straight for him. He thought he was bigger but the adrenaline got him excited and he was able to take a nice 8 point from the ground. We ended the hunt with Tony taking another nice 8 on the 4th day of the hunt. The buck came into a small water hole that that I dig earlier in the year that was still holding just enough to give them a drink. All 3 bucks went down within 15 mins of each other to make for a fine evening of hunting. Congrats to the guys. I love seeing those smiles after a successful hunt

It’s been a long dry season so far. The short cold spells we’ve had got the deer on their feet in daytime finally. Some of course still won’t do what I want them too. The bucks are starting to get aggressive and showing signs of some pre rut activity. The cooler weather coming behind this much needed rain should make for some good hunting for the group coming in. Good luck to anyone else who gets in the woods.

The book has finally closed on the hunt for this deer. I’ve had him on camera since the fall of 2020 and he had gotten away so many times I wasn’t sure he would ever get taken. In 2020 a hunter shot over his back during an archery hunt and that was the only opportunity he gave us. He made it through the to 2021. He lost some antler size going from a 10 to a 9. The same hunt was able to get another opportunity and once again missed him over his back. Unlike the previous season he would stick around to give others a try at him. During rifle season a he was missed the first day but came back for a second. The hunter felt like it was a good shot but the ilonly sign he was hit was on Christmas Eve when I had him on corn already missing an antler. My thoughts were that he body went into recovery mode so he dropped his antlers early. That brings us to this season. He was coming to the same property in daylight once every 3-4 days so it was a matter of time for him to show up. On day 4 of my hunters 5 day hunt he showed up and JD mad a great shot. The deer made it less than 200 yards. I love the history I get with many of the deer on camera especi when they happen like this one. Congrats on great deer and thanks for the memories that will last forever!

Day 2/3 of the season turned out to be a successful hunt. Jacob put a shot on this buck early in the evening. We have him plenty of time, but unfortunately we jumped him while following the blood trail. Wounded deer can run for miles if pushed, so we backed out and gave him all night. The next morning we went in early to get back on the trail, but couldn’t find anymore sign from the spot we jumped him. The decision to call in the dog was made and of course liebe and Kenzie was out first choice. 17 hours after the shot liebe made short work of hunting this buck down to find him still alive. Kenzie quickly called Jacob up to her so he could put a kill shot on the buck. He got it done and was able to put his hands on his first velvet buck ever. It was a hunt we will all remember. Thank you Kentucky k9 deer tracking for making the recovery possible and congrats to jacob on his trophy. These memories will definitely last a lifetime.

Our first hunt on the first day of the 2022/2023 season started off with great success. The deer like to stick to a strict schedule before they shed their velvet. This deer came into the corn on the edge of the bean field everyday at 6:30pm. Steve was able to get in a tree with his climber and sat through some extremely heavy rain fall that we thought would keep the deer from getting in their feet. The rain didn’t stop the movement as the deer walked out at 25 yards and gave him a shot. He made it happen and is now taking a 152” trophy back home with him. Congrats on a great deer.

Here is a deer that I’ve had on camera for 3 years now. I believe him to be at least 5.5 years old. He went from a 6 to a 7 and now barely a 7 again this season.
