2024 APA World Pool Championship in Vegas is almost at an end. We had 9 teams out there and many players out there just to support and play in minis. Whether our teams went all the way or 2 and out, it was a great time and they did us proud.
In the 8-Ball event = Wishful Thinking - 513th place. They were down a few soldiers and missing a crucial low number to play the lineup that helped get them there, so they did what they could with what they had.
In the 8-Ball event = Rack'em Up - Again! - 9th place! This team played so well they didn't get to go outside. To some, that is the perfect Vegas trip and I think Russ and his crew wouldn't have had it any other way. 9th place out of 765 teams is an incredible accomplishment. They were there every step of the way in their final match as well, but sometimes you don't get the rolls.
In the 8-Ball event = Rez-evoir Dawgs - 129th place. Rez and his team had a great run finishing 129th, getting into the cash. The teams in their bracket are lucky that Rez himself wasn't able to play due to the numbers, otherwise they may have had a very different finish in this event.
In the 8-Ball event = Rackless Behavior - 257th place. Brian and his team had a good run, earning two wins and eventually being knocked out by a team from Canada.
In the Team Captains event = Howie's Crew - They earned 257th-384th place in the event. This event is tough, you're playing one rack matches on 7 foot tables with alternating racks of 8/9 ball, so sometimes you don't even get to shoot and its hard to fade away from bad luck. This type of event, sometimes you need a little luck to make it far.
In the Ladies event = OG Chicks with Sticks - 65th-96th in the event. Lisa and her team had an unfortunate sudden death loss that put them out earlier than expected, but that's the way it happens sometimes. The team that beat them wen on to win many more matches and finish 9th place, so no shame there.
In the Masters event = Ryan Lima and his Masters team earned 129th-192nd place. This event is tough and you never know when you're going to run into a team like the one they did. Their opponents got top 16 last year and were all strong 9s.
In the 9-ball Team Event - Nate's team - The Degenerates finished in 385th place in the event, which is an incredible accomplishment considering the fact that they started playing 9-ball about 7 months ago and did not have a full team out there. Just making it TO Vegas is tough.
In the 9-ball Team Event - Great Balls of Fire - Ashley + Justin Zielke and their team do not have their stories written yet. They are currently on round 3 playing as we speak! If they win this, they will be in the money. Lets all wish them luck and we will report back when we have more info!
We had so many new faces out there this trip and some faces that we haven't seen out in Vegas in a long time and we couldn't be happier with the representation of our Baystate APA players. Thank you to everyone that followed along at home with some of our players streamed matches and to those out here in Vegas that supported your fellow players. It was a pleasure sweating matches with you all and cheering on our friends.
