SUPPORTERS OF THE DCT, WE NEED YOUR HELP to keep moo-ving forward 🐮

The Dartmouth Cycling Team is in the midst of our annual fundraising campaign. We are fortunate to experience the joys of cycling, and we want to keep providing students with the opportunity to experience our wonderful sport. The Cycling Team provides support to athletes at all levels, from national champions to cycling-curious students who have never ridden before. We depend on the funds raised from our annual fundraising challenge to keep the Cycling Team moooooving forward, rubber side down. We would be incredibly appreciative of any donation to our fundraiser, which can be found at the link in our bio. Even a few bucks can go a long way, and every donation helps us get closer to our “number of gifts” goal. Sharing the link also helps us out a ton as we try to get the word out on our fundraiser.

The link can be found in our bio. Thank you all!!!

Ben Hinchliffe will be our Equipment Manager and Road Season Coordinator. He comes all the way from Harpenden, UK. Ben comes from a triathlon background, but he’s been on two wheels of some description for as long as he can remember! Ben had his first real season with the team last spring which he describes as an “absolute blast.” He looks forward to the cross season this fall. Fun facts about Ben: He comes from a tri background (apparently he DOES wear socks though!) and baked beans and eggs on toast is his favorite recovery fuel (he dares someone to change his mind) (he also describes himself as being the most original brit).

Photo’s from the first race weekend of this year! The team travelled to Putney, VT for the West Hill Cyclocross race. Izzy Jenson ‘29 says of her time, “I had so much fun at West Hill cross, it’s super exciting to get back into the dirt (even if that is literally). I enjoyed the course and felt like it was just technical enough to be entertaining but still fast. I loved getting to hang out with the team and am happy with my finish. It is super refreshing to be racing in the North East!”
Andrew Frank ‘29 says of his, “The community was unmatched and it could not have been a better introduction to CX!”

Notable finishes include: Nolan Holmes ‘25 came in 3rd place in the Men’s Cat 3/4 race; Izzy Jensen ‘29 finished 4th in the Women’s Cat 1/2/3; Andrew Frank ‘29 came in 22nd in the Men’s Cat 3/4; John DeForest ‘25 finished 36th in Men’s Cat 3/4; Divik Verma ‘26 finished 5th in Men’s Cat 4; Tim Groves ‘29 came in 14th in Men’s Cat 4; Jake Holt ‘GR came in 15th in Men’s Cat 4; and Ian Mclarney ‘29 came in 28th in Men’s Cat 4.

Matthew Marrotto will be serving multiple roles with us this year including: MTB Season Coordinator, Co-Treasurer, and Sponsorship Coordinator. Matthew started out racing mountain bikes (and still does!) but he prefers the longer races nowadays and has started to enjoy road races during the spring season. He competes in XC olympic/marathon, road, and (infrequently) gravel disciplines. He hails from Kentfield, California and plans to double major in Geography and Economics. Some important facts about Matthew is he really enjoys climbing and he really, really, reallllyyyy likes Sweetgreen. Seriously, you should ask him about it. He truly loves Sweetgreen.

Divik Verma will be serving as our Co-Treasurer and Co-Home Race Organizer this year. Hailing from Breinigsville, PA, Divik competes in the Road and Cyclocross disciplines. Divik says about the DCT, “Finding the DCT helped me find others who are just as passionate about the sport and the outdoors.” He still enjoys racing, but loves coffee rides and exploring the Upper Valley just as much nowadays. Important to note about Divik: He Everested Tuck Drive his sophomore summer!

Jake Holt will be serving as our Cyclocross Coordinator this year! Jake hails from Savannah, GA and is currently a 6th year grad student working on his PhD in Biology. He races Road, Cross, MTB, and Track. From Jake himself, “I’m a mega washed road and trackie who has discovered a love for dirt and skis of all widths at Dartmouth.” Important to note: He’s too soft for the ECCC road season; He has an irrational fear of tubeless road tires; And he’s the Bass player for the band “Jake and the Lesbians.”

Jermey (van der) Wang comes from San Jose, CA and will be serving as our Directeur Sportif and Soigneur. He will be majoring in Earth Sciences and Engineering. Jermey started cycling the summer before his sophomore year and has really enjoyed being a part of the DCT. Bond Almand, The Certified Legend himself, will be serving as our Vice President this year. He studies government, climate science, and sustainable energy. He hails from Maryville, TN and is an expert on every road in the greater area. He enjoys extreme endurance cycling. He holds multiple world records including cycling the Pan-American in 75 days and his most recent world record cycling the US north-south from Key West, Florida to Madawaska, Maine (among multiple other world records!). Fun Facts about Bond: He’s illegally crossed 6 international borders (are you sure you want to make that public record??); the Nicaraguan police love to extort him; and he likes ice cream!

Fall term may have already started, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t still working our way through senior posts 😤 Today we honor Monsieur NolDawg, Professor, PND, our team father figure, Nolan Holmes. He never answered my text requesting his information, so I’m just going to make up the parts of his bio that I don’t know. Nolan is yet another ’25 who we have the pleasure of welcoming back to Dartmouth next year as he pursues his masters in Engineering. Accordingly, Nolan majored in Engineering as an undergrad, with a minor in Marxist Political Theory. He is a lifetime Vermonter from Brattleboro. Affectionatley known as Professor Nol-Dawg, his maturity, leadership, and benevolance make him the perfect team dad. His junior year, Nolan led the team as El Presidente, and rode himself to the Collegiate National Championships the past three years. His favotire memory from DCT is snuggling with Wells during spring break, and he is most proud of the fact that he got to ride alongside the legendary Jeremy van der Wang. You would be hard pressed to find a more thoughtful, genuine, and beloved person than Nolan, and we are so so grateful for him and excited that he will be here again next year!
