Rasputista 2023 registration opens on 5/16/2022...

Rasputitsa is more than a gravel cycling race. It’s a homegrown self-supported challenge of the mind, body, and soul that instills people with a connected sense of place and purpose. It’s an authentic experience that embraces: The Unknown. Change. All people. All bikes.

SMGR with Pave:

SMGR No Pave:

https://www.strava.com/routes/2957231855686763302

59 to 60 miles w/ over 5000 of climbing....

We will both likely ride the route w/ pave but you are welcome to avoid
it. 2 groups and this week we will all start together but I will look
at finish times and come up with staggered starts next week with the A
group going out second so we can finish together...

Join Upper Valley Cycling Club and sign the waivers for 2022:
https://www.bikereg.com/uvcc-membership

Everyone that attends the SMGR is responsible for the route. While we
hope to ride in groups, gravel riding is not as conducive to group
riding as road riding, add to that many intersections- so either load
the route on your bike computer/ phone or stick with someone who has the
route.

Bring enough food/ water for the route. There are times when we do not
pass stores so come prepared. If we know there is a store, we will
stop. Also bring a minimum of a tube/ repair kit etc.

One of the goals of the SMGR for the season is to explore new roads/
routes so we don't always know what will come across so there may be
hike a bike, some technical stuff etc. If we know there is pave we will
let you know. We also hope to explore some different areas in NH and
VT. We will do our best to give you advanced warnings when we plan
bigger/ longer adventure rides. Please feel free to share ideas with us.

Gravel bikes always recommended unless we post otherwise.

Future Dates:

Looking at Hartland, VT next weekend

100 mile/ 60 mile Northeast Kingdom Gravel Ride looking at end of May
(date to be determined so give feedback on what works)

Ride On!!

This week its the Leb figure 8, we will get to 5 corners later this year...:

WNR May 4 2022

Where: Meet at Garipay Field parking lot, Hanover, NH

When: 5:30pm, Wednesday

What: https://www.strava.com/routes/13096428

32 miles, 2600 feet

The C ride route:

https://www.strava.com/routes/2954415263735497974

24 miles 1700 feet

Waivers and membership fee: please register on BikeReg. You must be registered to join the ride

https://www.bikereg.com/uvcc-membership

Background on the WNR:

The A ride is all out, averaging 20mph+ (with elevation) and is a drop ride.

The B+ ride is fast, averaging around 17-19mph (with elevation). The B+ group will do a regroup in a designated spot or two on the route, but will not wait long.

The B ride is quick, averaging 16-18mph (with elevation). The B group has experienced cyclists in the group who want a workout, but are willing to take riders new to the WNR.

The C ride is a no drop ride and will aim at averaging 13-15mph. This is a great place for people new to group rides to learn the ropes.

We’ll get into our groups before leaving the parking lot to review the route and expectations. Cycling with a group has risks!

This year we are introducing a new policy regarding bad weather cancellation. At 4pm on Wednesday if the weather.com forecast for Hanover has a 50% or greater chance of thunderstorms the ride is cancelled.

Leaving the Dothan School, Rt. 5, WRJ at 7am both Sat and Sun

We will be doing the Dirty Project Routes this weekend to keep Dale company as he missed the rides in July. Join one or both days. These routes show us starting from King Arthur, but we will ride from Dothan School so joining route and or adding on a little for Sunday.

As always, you need to have/ know the route as we will not stop at every intersection. Pending on who shows up we may break into groups.....

Sat there is a good place for food/ water in Teago Store Pomfret at mile 37ish.

Sunday we will stop in Sharon at mile 16 to fill up, but then no food/ water stops until the end so plan accordingly..

If you have not joined UVCC, please do so and sign waivers.

Future: 9/25- hoping to see you at Peachem and wishing all those riding the VT 50 good luck!! We won't be offering a ride next weekend.

10/3- will be the SMGR instead of 10/2 ... This will be the end of season ride/ gathering for the Upper Valley Cycling Club based out of Whaleback. Join in even if you haven't attended many rides. This is open to all members and if you want to learn more about the club this is your opportunity. We are working on trying to offer rides for all. If you want to volunteer to help organize a group for a ride please let me know.

After 10/3, David and I will still have gravel rides on the weekend as long as the weather cooperates but start time will fluctuate pending weather. Perhaps a foliage tour the following weekend.....
