Thanks Rockstars Mary, Brian, Nigel, Mark, Cookie and Chris for your exceptional teamwork in getting the girl around the Hampton Bar. It was a picture perfect evening with a breeze that started off a little sporty but dropped into "perfect conditions" about 1/2 way around the bar. Also Congratulations Rockstar Mary for earning her bow qualification!
It was blowing ~15-18 mph on the way out, thanks for the tug "Rumble", but predicted to drop so we stuck with the AP 1 headsail. Came into the start on a bit of a barge approach and sure enough "Too Cool" was there to close the door, We ducked behind but they came around and we ended up being over about 4 secs early. A quick dip back below the line and we were off, still ahead of a couple of late starters.
We stayed left till the shallows near the HRBT and managed to two tack up to Mark CCV "B" holding our position on the nearby boats continuing upwind to CCV P. We cracked off but just a little going to CCV "C". It was a solid beam reach to CCV "T".
The current was running in, so we sailed our reach a little high going to the deep water on the left side. As the wind backed off to 8-10 mph it also crept aft. Confirmed by "Remedy" ahead, it was time to hoist the kite. Broad reach going deep, with a jibe , to douse the kite and round CCV "I" - We had a solid and pretty quick beat back to CCV "A", taking the right side of the channel we were able to get the kite up "one more" time for a mellow run into the creek - Over!
Thanks Race Committee for a great course, organized start and finish! Thanks competitors for coming out to make these Wednesdays fun! We've still got a maintenance list to knock out before we can compete on the weekends but we are moving the ball. More to come....
