Broken gloves deserve redemption.

These are the gloves I really enjoy working on. Thank you Austin Briles

This Mizuno MCL 5002 was purchased in the early 2000s and used throughout the owner’s high school baseball days. After that, it stayed in the game through years of rec slow-pitch softball.

Then, more than 20 years after Dad first put it on his hand, his son’s glove gave out.

His son started using Dad’s old Mizuno instead. After a few games, the original lace finally started giving way too.

He had a choice: buy his son another glove or give this one another life.

He chose the Mizuno.

It got a thorough cleaning and conditioning and a complete relace in dark red. I wanted to keep all the character this glove earned over the years while making sure it was ready to actually be played with again.

I loved working on this glove, and I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out.

There’s just something cool about a glove that already played through one kid’s high school years getting another chance to take the field with his son.

Same glove. New chapter.

No crazy backstory on this one—just a good-looking Heart of the Hide that needed some fresh lace.

This Rawlings PROR204-2PPM already had a great pink and mint color combination, so there was no reason to mess with it. We replaced the old, faded lace with fresh ocean mint and changed up the lace pattern at the base of the web for a little custom touch.

Nothing drastic. Just one of those relaces that reminds you how much fresh lace can change the entire look of a glove.

This is one of those jobs where the story means more than the before and after.

This Rawlings PRO1000H had been sitting around since the early 2000s. When it arrived, the leather was extremely dry, the old lace had seen better days, and the glove was showing every bit of its age.

Then the customer told me something that put the whole job in perspective.

This was the expensive glove his dad bought him when he was younger—a glove he now realizes probably stretched the family budget quite a bit to put on his hand.

Now, more than 20 years later, he was excited to get it taken care of so he could show his dad.

I cleaned it thoroughly, worked some life back into that dry leather with conditioner, and relaced it with fresh tan lace. I wasn’t trying to erase 20+ years of wear. Those marks belong on this glove.

As a kid, you don’t always understand what your parents sacrificed to make sure you had what you needed. Sometimes it takes growing up and having a family of your own before you really see it.

Pretty honored that Murph’s Mitts got to play a small part in this one.

A little personal connection on this one.

This Rawlings Heart of the Hide PROR312U-2R belongs to the younger brother of a kid who used to play ball with my son. His parents are both retired Coast Guard, so it was cool having their family trust me with his glove.

He went with royal blue and yellow for the new lace, and that combination gave this HoH a completely different look without changing what makes the glove his.

Fresh lace and ready to get back on the field. 🔵🟡🧤

Some gloves have a little more history than others.

The owner of this Nokona AMG1125 is a fellow Marine Corps veteran, and he told me he chose Murph’s Mitts because of that connection.

What made this one especially cool to work on: this glove went with him on every deployment during his time in the Marine Corps.

It didn’t need anything dramatic—just a relace. The goal wasn’t to change what the glove was. Just give it fresh lace so a glove that’s already been around the world can keep going.

Being trusted with someone’s glove is always something I appreciate. Being trusted with one carrying this kind of history hits a little different.

Semper Fi, brother.

This one came with a couple problems you don't see on every glove.

The customer reached out to The Craftsman, but needed his Wilson A2000 softball catcher’s mitt back sooner than his current lead time would allow. The Craftsman was kind enough to send him my way.

Besides the relace, the mitt had a hole developing in the pocket that needed to be addressed. We used lace to secure the area and keep the pocket together, and I added an attached wrist guard at the customer's request.

A little custom problem-solving and this A2000 is ready to get back behind the plate.

There's something especially cool about getting a referral from another glove craftsman. I appreciate the trust.

I found this glove on a visit to Chicago on marketplace for a really good deal. I knew I was either going to fix it up and sell it or keep it for myself. But when a buddy of mine said his son was going to give baseball another chance and they needed to get him a glove I fixed it up and we gifted it to him! Stay tuned for the reaction video!

With the leather horseshoe beyond repair, I added holes and turned it into the double x pattern used on I-webs. Glove is ready to play catch with the grandkids again
