HOW TO FIX A SHOW.
Just some random thoughts:)

Picture a first-timer walking into a show. Beautiful horses, everybody working… and they have no idea what they’re looking at. They can’t tell why one horse beat another, nobody’s telling them what to watch for, and they leave thinking “that was nice, I guess.” That’s not their fault. That’s ours.

So here’s how we fix it — the changes that cost nothing (an announcer who actually commentates, a 20-second rider intro, opening the barn so people can meet a horse) and the ones worth investing in (ring-side screens, a crowd pick-‘em, shareable photo moments). None of it’s complicated. Most of it’s free.

Because nobody’s coming to discover us. The audience is already here — the lapsed rider who quit at sixteen, the pony-phase kid’s mom, the person twenty minutes down the road who’d love this if we just gave them a way in.

The drama’s already there. Every barn has it. We just keep it behind the tack room door. Time to open it. 🎙️

Our Summer Solstice Horse Show Association LLC Horse Show is around the corner and entries and way down to where we are thinking of canceling. We started this show because we were told that there was the need for “B” grassroots horse shows that cater to entry level riders and riders that enjoy going to shows that are a bit lower key. We have to 6/13 to make a decision to cancel. It’s a shame as this show has UPHA Exceptional Challenge Cup classes, ASHBA Series Select Classes, $200 jackpot added classes, ranch classes, academy classes, and great food trucks. Let us know if you are attending, as this will be the last year for this show. Show trends are changing, and maybe these types of shows aren’t what the industry wants.

We will have a BBQ food truck on Saturday and a Taco food truck on Sunday. The Horse Emporium will also be making an appearance as well.
