The 2024 Sporting Clays Leagues start Saturday March 2nd at Boot Hill Shooting Ground in Hamilton Mo.

6 Individual Leagues and 1 Team League. Shoot 8 rounds for score over 6 months. Shoot on weekends only at you're leisure. Very few deadlines to meet, just 2 actually. Shoot 3 rounds by May 12th and then the final day, 8 rounds by August 31st.

25 guns given away and over $15,000 in cash prizes.

Grand Prize in the Open League is a CZ Red Head Premier 12 gauge. Grand Prize in the 20 gauge League is a CZ Red Head Premier in 20 gauge. Grand Prize in the 28 gauge League is a CZ Sharptail SxS in 28 gauge. Grand Prize in the 410 league is a CZ Drake in 410. We also have similar Grand Prizes in the 5-Stand League and the Super Sporting League. The 2 person Team League has 2 CZ P 10s as Grand Prizes. Grand Prizes are by random draw of anyone in that league that completed the full 8 rounds.

There are 2 Leagues that have no entry fees, free other than the cost of targets. Those Leagues are the Super Sporting and the Team. In the Team event true triples are thrown and each shooter has 2 shots. The round is 75 targets, and again, no entry fees.

Boot Hill is at 816-465-0789. I can be reached at 660-247-1211 or [email protected]

We drew 4 lucky gun winners today for our April gun draws. Rex Patterson and Patrick Garrett both won CZ P 10 Cs. Eric Peterson won a CZ 620 Field Select and Ben Hartwig won a CZ 628 Field Select. Next Month we have 2 CZ 457s to give away, one in .22LR and one in .17 HMR.

We just established our Classes. The Open League has 81 shooters divided up into 9 classes of 9 each. The 20 Gauge ended up with only 22 shooters this season. We divided them into 4 classes. The 28 Gauge league has 43 shooters and they were divided up into 5 classes of either 8 or 9 shooters. In the .410 Bore we only had 17 shooters and we put them in to 3 Classes. A total of 163 shooters this season. A down year, likely due to ammo concerns, gas prices, and overall poor economy, I also know we have had a rash of health issues among our older members this season and many are sitting this one out. Hopefully we will be back over 200 next year.

This is Hunter Henry, winner of our first first gun drawing of the year. Hunter is too young to win the gun so he was given the cash equivalent, but this is the gun from the drawing. It is a CZ-612 Magnum Turkey just in time for Turkey season. It is not too late to enter the league, we have about a month until we lock in the membership so get out and sign up. So far we have 81 in the Open League, 17 in the 20 gauge, 39 in the 28 gauge, and 16 in the 410. We also have a 2 person Team League this season. 27 guns total to be given away and close to $20,000 in cash prizes.

Due to the snow received yesterday Boot Hill has decided to close for the weekend. No shooting March 12 and 13.

03/10/2022

The 1st weekend of Leagues are in the books. We had 37 entries into the Open League, 10 in the 20 gauge League, 22 in the 28 gauge League, and 8 into the .410 League. We also had 9 teams sign up for the 2 person Team League. Not a bad start, but we do expect lots more. You have till about May to get signed up and you must get 3 rounds recorded by May 15th in order to get classed, so get out to Boot Hill and get your targets shot. We giving away 27 guns! Leagues runs from March through August and you only need to shoot 8 rounds in whichever League you decided tom sign up for over that 6 month period.

OK, there is a new event in our 2022 Sporting Clays League this Season, a 2 person Team League. This League calls for just 8 rounds of 99 targets to be shot over 6 months. Those rounds will be 33 triples where the 2 person team will get 4 shots to break those 3 targets. The 2 cool things are this: There are no entry fees to this event, zero, zip, nada. Just pay for targets, $40 each round. The second cool thing is that CZ-USA, namely David Miller, has donated 2 CZ P 10 Cs which will be given away by random draw to a team from this event. See pic. How can you pass up a free League and a chance to win a pair of P 10 Cs? Oh, plus the league is going to give away several flats of shells in this League based on placement in Classes. Again, no entry fees in this event!!!

So far we have 20 members in our Open League, 7 in our 20 gauge, 11 in our 28 gauge, and 5 in our .410 League. Our 2 person Team League has just 4 teams so far, but I am sure that will grow fast once shooters get to the range and decide who to team up with. League starts March 5th, but you can enter as late as May 15th and still get in on most of the gun drawings and all of the cash prizes. Oh, here is another of the fine guns CZ-USA has donated as one of our Grand Prizes, another 457 tack driver. Better get out and sign up.

This is just one of the 11 guns CZ-USA has donated as Grand Prizes to our 2022 League. This is in addition to the other 16 guns we will be buying and also giving away. This is a CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer and valued at $1315. There will be 27 guns in total given away over 6 months, not to mention approximately $20,000 in cash. The League begins March 5th and you can sign up as late as May 15th and still get in for most of the drawings.

We are taking entries into our various Leagues already. Had several individuals sign up yesterday, along with a couple of teams. We still don't have details on the Grand Prizes that CZ will be providing, but I have no doubt they will be excellent. They never let us down and have always supported us. If interested in joining or if you need more info just email me, Dave Langvardt at [email protected] or messenger me on facebook. Shooting starts March 5th.

Announcing the 2022 Edition of the

NWMO SPORTING CLAYS LEAGUE

Sponsored by CZ-USA

Hosted by Boot Hill Shooting Ground
In Hamilton, Mo

We will have 4 Leagues for Individuals, with 4 Separate Grand Prizes

Shoot 1 League or all 4, your choice.

This year we are also offering a 2-person Team League.

The “Open” League calls for 8 rounds of 100 targets to be shot over 6 months.
We are also offering 3 “Sub Gauge” Leagues (.410, 28, and 20) that call for 8 rounds of 50 targets to be shot over 6 months

All 4 Leagues will be scored separate and all shooters that finish each gauge will qualify for a Grand Prize Shotgun (donated by CZ-USA) by random draw at the end of the League.

The Team League will be 8 rounds of 99 targets on the same course as the Open League. The team will have 4 shots at 3 targets thrown as a triple. There will be 33 triples over 9 stations.

The League starts March 5th * and ends August 27th, 2022
Awards Banquet and prize draws the next day, August 28th, 2022

Cost:
Open League $120 plus cost of targets ($35 per 100)**
Sub Gauge League $60 per gauge, plus cost of targets ($17.50 per 50)**
Youth pay only $60 for the Open League and $30 for the subs. A youth is anyone that will not be 18 years old by September 1, 2022

We are NOT charging any League Fees for the Team event. You will just pay Target fees. With the cost of shooting getting out of reach I wanted to offer a way to compete and have fun that didn’t cost so much, so this event will have no entry fee. There will be Grand Prizes of some sort, depending on how much money we have left at the end of the season. More than likely, it will be shells of some sort. Team entrants will not be eligible for the monthly drawings unless they are in another league.

100% of the buy in money in the Individual Leagues will be paid back to the shooters as awards for placement in their respective classes. In 2021 we paid out $19,110 to class placement winners. 2022 should be similar.

We also offer incentives for shooters to stay current with their shooting. There will be 16 guns given away by random draw to shooters that stay up to date with their targets.

Approximately 20 guns to be given away in 2022.

Complete League rules are available to those interested. Please contact Dave Langvardt at [email protected] or 660-247-1211 to get on the league mailing list or to ask questions about the league and the rules. If you think you live too far away to shoot our league, please consider that we allow you to shoot up to 2 months ahead. And if you were to get behind the only real penalty is losing out of the gun draws for the month you are behind. You can make up that round later and still be eligible for the cash payouts and grand prizes. There are only 2 drop dead deadlines, you must have 3 rounds scored by May 15th in order to be placed in a class and you must have all 8 rounds shot by August 27th in order to qualify for the Grand Prize drawings. Once you are placed in a class of shooters with similar ability you will compete only with those in your class, usually 10-12 in the Open League or 6-8 in the sub gauge leagues. With 8 rounds needed over 6 months we base the incentive drawings on the following schedule: 1 round is due in March, 2 rounds in April, 1 round in each month May through July, and 2 rounds in August. But you can shoot them when you wish as long as you meet the 2 deadlines above. We have members that travel 3-4 hours to participate. They shoot 2 month’s worth of targets each visit which means they make 4 trips. There is also an RV park very close if you have an RV and want to make a weekend of it.

*League starts the day Boot Hill opens for the season. That is scheduled to be March 5th 2021. Boot Hill will open as soon as the weather permits. I will send emails to advise, so get on the mailing list. Boot Hill will close if the weather does not allow traffic on the course.
**prices are assuming the shooter purchases a Boot Hill Shooting Ground membership for $30, which in turn gets you a discount of $5 per 100 and $2.50 per 50 targets. Regular prices are $40 per 100 Targets and $20 per 50. These costs are also subject to change by the range owner as target prices are increasing. These are the prices from 2021 and are still in place as of this writing. Targets Fees of the Team event have not yet been established by Boot Hill, but I expect them to be about $40 per round per team.
