Meet Jocelyn. 🎀🩰

Dedicated, expressive, and always evolving, Jocelyn brings both a strong work ethic and a natural gift for storytelling to her dancing. She approaches every rehearsal as an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover something new.

This season, Jocelyn will lead us through the magic of The Nutcracker as Clara, a role that brings together her growing artistry and love of performing.

We’re so excited to watch her tell Clara’s story and continue blossoming as an artist along the way.

Dance can be a hundred different things.

A way to tell a story.
A place to belong.
A challenge.
An escape.
A friendship.
A way to say something when words aren’t quite enough.

For every dancer who walks through our doors, the answer is a little different.

So we want to hear yours: What does dance mean to you?

Tell us in the comments.

It’s all in the details. ✨

The sweep of a tutu. The shimmer of a headpiece. A pair of pointe shoes waiting in the wings.

The magic of The Nutcracker is built from hundreds of little details, each one becoming part of something bigger when the curtain rises.

But the most important detail of all? A love for dance.

It’s the heart behind every rehearsal, every step, and every moment we share onstage.

Ballet 101 🩰

What exactly is a corps de ballet?

Meaning “body of the ballet,” the corps de ballet is the ensemble of dancers who move together to create some of ballet’s most memorable scenes.

From a swirling snowstorm in The Nutcracker to a stage filled with swans, the corps isn’t simply the background. It takes musicality, precision, awareness, and trust to make many individual dancers move as one.

There’s an art to dancing together.

The dancers may change and the years may pass, but some traditions have a way of becoming part of who we are.

As another Nutcracker season begins at MVBT, we’re looking back at the dancers, performances, and memories that helped shape the production we know today.

Do you recognize anyone from this throwback?

The stage is our canvas. 🎨

Every class begins with possibility. Every rehearsal is a chance to create, explore, and discover something new. And every performance brings that artistry to life.

At Miami Valley Ballet Theatre, we believe dance is more than steps. It’s a way to tell stories, build community, and create something meaningful together.

Here’s to another month of moving, creating, and making art.
