Maybe it doesn’t happen for every father like this. But I imagine for a lot of us it does.

When our children are born at first, it doesn’t really seem real. They are just something that we need to care for, something we need to have responsibility for and something we should provide for. Then this happens at some point. I think for some it happens soon and some not for a decade or so. Suddenly, all of our dreams and ambitions are no longer our goals, but goals for our children. We want them to succeed at everything they do.

I don’t remember exactly when that moment happened for me. I have a lot of things that I still want to do in this life, but I think most of my hopes and dreams are things and desires for my children and their children.

To be able to witness some of those dreams coming true is truly magical. It makes me so proud as a father, as a husband, as a son, and a grandson to all those I have loved and I have loved me to see these dreams come to fruition. It is a great time to be alive. Merry Christmas to all.
