Another great turn out for the Wk 9 event at Green Green Acres Golf Course & Restaurant this past weekend. We had 135 total golfers this week with a ladies field again. Last year we had 96 total so that's another ≈40% increase year over year. Awesome.

Thank you to everyone that was able to participate and to Green Acres for hosting the event.

WIGA Week 10 starts tomorrow at the Deer Run Golf Course and goes from June 18th thru the 21st.

Handicaps are calculated from all previous events. The link for the handicap sheet for this event is below and as always will be available at check in. Please be sure to reference it prior to your round so you know which division to check on your scorecard and which tees to play. Tee's are listed at the top of the Hncp Sheet and are as follows:

Payne Stewart Division (PSD) will play the White tees on all 18.

Byron Nelson Division (BND) will play the Gold tee's all 18 (please note hole #13 has different gold and red tees).

Ladies will play the Red Tee's, all 18.

As a fun add on for one of our biggest events of the year, we wanted to partner with some sponsors to have an additional opportunity for the players to win at the Deer Run Golf Course WIGA event starting June 18th. Please thank and support these local businesses. They have donated a total of $400 in additional prizes for this event.

On all four days of the event each of the par 3 holes will have a "Greenie" challenge. Hitting any par 3 green in regulation permits you to add your name to the sign in sheet that will be placed near the green for that hole. At the end of each day the sheets will be collected and one player on each hole will win a $25 gift certificate for the sponsor of that hole.

Winners will be randomly drawn from the players that hit that green each of the 4 days.

We thought this would be a nice addition to show a little appreciation for all of the players we have in the WIGA community. Thank you for your support.

With the weather experienced yesterday and a potential for more rain Saturday, we have discussed with Green Acres Golf Course & Restaurant and they agreed to extend the Wk 9 event, thru Monday June 15th to allow players who may be impacted by the inclement weather. Please consider this into your plans for this event.

FYI, we will do whatever possible to still get the scores input but keep in mind this may impact handicaps for the following week at Deer Run, if we don't get them input and reviewed by Wednesday afternoon. Always reference the hncp sheet we provide labeled for each event.

Green Acres Golf Course & Restaurant said they are open today for the opening day of the Wk 9 WIGA event. Before traveling, may not be a bad idea to double check with the clubhouse to see if that changes. They can be reached @ (319) 733-0652.

Another nice increase in turn out year over year for the Wk 8 event at Carthage Golf Course this past weekend. We had 208 total golfers this week with a full ladies field with 18 playing so we paid out the top 5. Great to see. Last year we had 177 total.

We have heard several times now that there are WIGA players that are not putting everything out.

!!! THERE ARE NO GIMMIES IN A WIGA EVENT !!!

There are rules sheets published for each event and we specifically say "ALL putts shall be holed out." This means there are no gimmies. Every hole must be finished with the ball hitting the bottom of the cup, period. Doesn't matter if it is sitting on the lip or inside the grip, every hole should be finished with the ball sitting in the cup for every player.

We know it is common for gimmies to be doled out amongst friends, but these are tournaments and I would venture to say a vast majority of players are following the rule. So people giving or receiving gimmies is an unfair advantage over everyone else and aren't permitted. Please discontinue if you happen to be one that is giving or receiving gimmies during a WIGA event.

We want everyone to play by the same rules so its a fair competition.

If we receive specific names associated with this act we will take action in the future up to and including disqualification.

We appreciate your attention to this matter.

One of our WIGA players found a ball marker that says "Best Dad by Par" this evening around 6:00 PM. Pictured below. It might be of sentimental value to the owner so we thought we would post on our FB page to let them know it was turned into the club house at Carthage Golf Course. Yet another nice increase in turn out year over year for the Wk 7 event at Twin Oaks Golf and Country Club this past weekend. We had 144 total golfers this week with enough ladies play to have their own division again. We love to see it. Compared to 110 last year.

Thank you to everyone that was able to participate and to Twin Oaks for hosting the event. Course was in great shape the day we played.
