Sssn 2025 Whynot Motorsports Park!!!

I’m at loss for words. The roller coaster of emotions that comes with a win on the biggest stage in front of thousands of people is unbelievable!!
Street stock nationals is a race i strive to attend every year. Ive told my crew if i only get to race once a year its gonna be at nationals this year was different. 2 weeks ago I was struggling with getting the car to handle the way I needed it to. I told the crew then if the car doesn’t perform any better this coming weekend I would be going to watch instead of race. My confidence level was down an I was starting to doubt myself. That week I tore into the car with hopes of finding something majorly wrong or something I’ve been over looking and I found nothing. So then I decided to change it up cause what I had wasn’t working. We decided to go to north Alabama speedway to test the car because im usually fast there. I needed a confidence boost an it paid off. I come home with the first win with the new car an the car felt great.

Now we’ve decided we’re going to nationals. Do I think I can win it? With my luck at that track and never have I won a race there before no. But I’m going to give it my best shot!! John Johnson Jr. comes to the shop an we discussed some things. He told me his thoughts of what I needed to do. I make the changes that week we rescale the car and load the car up cause we got what we got. We go down on Friday an qualify I think 24th fastest in my group which puts me starting 8th in my heat with some really good cars. With lil doubts of me making it to 3rd to lock into the a main we make some adjustments an send it. 3rd place finish as Trevor Woodard would tell me later that night you pick my pocket on that one!! We’re now locked into the a main starting 17th. First time ever to lock into the main after the heat race. You know because my bad luck always strikes me down there.

We then load up an make the 2 1/2 hr drive back home because this particular weekend my youngest son gets to have his first football game that I wasn’t gonna miss.

So I got home a was In bed about 3:30 back up at 7 an at the field by 8. Even though the kids didn’t win I felt like I had already won just getting to watch him play an do what he loves.

We arrive back at the track about 3. I know i need to make some adjustments but im not sure what to do yet. I talk with lil john again an he tells me he sees an issue that needs to be changed. I tell him lets do it cause we aint getting any hot laps an we got what we got.

This race weekend just felt different like there wasnt as much pressure on me or like i wasnt being rushed to do things because of all the bad luck i always have had in the past. Or maybe i didn’t put as much pressure on myself because for me my son’s football game was my top priority. Something was just different in a good way.

It’s race time. They drop the green an for me it felt like everyone was moving just a little bit slower. I’m running hard but not all it’s got I’m just trying to survive to the end. Then a big wreck I managed to miss that took out some good cars. By lap 10 I’m in the top 5. I’m still maintaining the tires with hopes to have a car come finish time. I’ve got the leader in my view an get to watch his every move. I felt I had a better advantage thou. Every restart he would dive to cover the bottom then float back to the top just enough to pinch never touching me but enough to make me grab the brake or lift on the throttle. I had the faster car an I knew it but I couldn’t show it just yet I knew I had one shot at the lead an I wanted that chance without having to move someone out the way or causing myself damage. I then hear something above me an I look a there is Corey Gann with his left front looking in my window. Thankful for that caution!! I told myself it’s time to go I can’t wait anymore we restart with another caution with gann in the wall which made my next decision some what easier. I hated he got took out but now i know hes not breathing down my neck. Every restart was the same. Leader dive an cover the bottom float up squeeze the top so I told myself lag back on this restart an don’t lift going in to turn one. That’s exactly what happened. When I got center of the turn 1-2 I lifted an stabbed it back. It hooked harder than it had all night and I knew then it was mine to loose. Jay Downs you ran a perfect race an a good clean race. My hat goes off to you an my heart goes out to you an your family for the loss of your father.

I’m still getting messages an notification congratulations and I still can’t believe we won!!

Area 51 suspension thank you for the dig sticks an always there to answer all the calls a text. You told me two years ago we would win nationals an here we are!! Thank you!!

To all my fans thank you all for the continued support to all my sponsors thank you all as well. They may have called out my name as the winner but my crew is the real winners.

And to my wife that puts up with all the late nights at the track or in the shop when your having to hold down the household a keep up with our kids thank you!! We finally got the big one!!

To be able to accomplish what we’ve accomplished this weekend I can’t put in to words. I’ve had some many people reach out saying you did a hell of a job or your one hell of a driver “wheelman”!! Thank y’all for the compliments!! I didn’t win these 2 big races alone. I’ve got one hell of a team an support system. From friends an family with me at the track willing to do whatever it takes to my support team that’s always a phone call away to give advice or help with setups I couldn’t be more blessed to have y’all!! This weekend’s success was a team 🏆 win!! I’m just the lucky guy to hold the steering wheel. My success is thru each an everyone yall. Thank you all !!!!!!

My highlight of the weekend wasn’t winning the big races at Moulton Speedway -The Family Track or North Alabama Speedway as you all might think although I enjoyed every minute of it.
My highlight was last night at West Alabama Speedway last night battling for 2nd with Rusty Duncan running as hard as we both could changing up angles trying to get the better run off for about 8 laps door to door an never touch!!
That’s what I call racing even if he did edge me out an got the position we both came out with smiles on our faces!!! Thank you Rusty for the excitement!!!

All an all it was a great weekend an I hope to see you all at the next one. 🏆🏆🏁🏁🏁
