Today, the gym chose violence. 🄊

I not only slammed my head on the barbell, but then a resistance band broke and snapped my face!

But I continued and while I was mad about it briefly (y’all both events really hurt), I’m not sorry it happened.

Speaking only truth here: your workouts won’t always be perfect.

There will be days that you feel everything went wrong and days that you just can’t give it your all. Count the little wins. Focus on the positives.

A journey without obstacles may get you to where you want to be, but you’ll miss out on the many opportunities for growth—mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Trust me, that growth will be worth it.

šŸŽ¶And I’m feeling G-O-O-D! šŸŽ¶

Spent some time with my best friend getting some fresh air, feeling the sunshine, and boosting our endorphins.

Endorphins are your body’s natural pain reliever, which your body produces in response to stress or discomfort. They are released when you engage in reward-producing activities, such as working out—among other things.

Here are some *non-gym* ways to increase your endorphin levels in the great outdoors:
✨Take a walk
✨ Ride a bike/scooter/rollerblade
✨ Go dancing
✨ Hike a trail
✨ Run

Additional perk of completing an outside activity: fresh air and sunshine help to brighten your mood, alleviate stress, lowers your risk of depression, and can help you sleep better at night.

šŸŒ€Something a little different šŸŒ€

I want to include more on this page than just physical fitness because, honestly, being mentally healthy is just as important. So here I am opening up to you all with the hope that you feel comfortable enough opening up and leaning on your supports when needed.

The months of May and June were reeeeeeaaallllyyy rough for me. There were more days where I felt low, sad, and anxious than there were of me feeling content (let alone happy). Days where I couldn’t move from the couch and the thought of doing anything either left me exhausted or feeling anxious on a level 8/10.

Don’t worry y’all, I’m doing better now. I’ve got myself a therapist, meds, and a brand new diagnosis šŸ˜‰

I wanted to share with you one of the things that got me through this time. I guess there’s actually two things here. First, I began using affirmations—positive reminders and statements that I could turn to when I needed them. Second, I used His word to help ease my mind and remind me to ask for help.

These things are written in my planner—which I carry nearly everywhere—but can easily be typed into your phone or hand written for easier accessibility. Whatever works for you!

I encourage you to practice either of these tools, or to identify your own, as needed. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and remember that you are loved and it WILL get better.

Hi friends, happy Wednesday!

Anyone here use daily affirmations to start and carry out their day? If you do, let me know some of your favorites below!

I started actively using affirmations them week!

Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and truly believe in them, you can start to make positive changes in your life.

Positive affirmations can be used for ANYTHING. Trying to hit a PR in the gym? Wanting that promotion? Struggling with a task? Just trying to get through your day? Pick a positive statement, try repeating it throughout the morning, and see how your mindset changes.

For me, I was nervous for my internship today as I will be co-facilitating group therapy for the first time with my supervisor.

Even though deep down I know I’m capable, my thoughts when I woke up were ā€œWhat if I mess up?ā€ ā€œWhat if I don’t know what to say?ā€ ā€œWhat if I can’t do it?ā€

Today’s affirmation:
ā€œI am radiating positive energy and this is my time to shineā€

TEACH KIDS THAT MOVING THEIR BODIES IS FUN!

I started working at my local gym (check the location) this past month as an Edge Kids Coach and I love it! (If you’re in CT bring your kid in while you workout!)

When I was younger I used to spend all the time I could outside playing with my siblings and neighbors. Literally hours of moving my body—riding bikes, playing sports, roller blading, running, jumping on the trampoline, tag, walks...you name it. Unfortunately, this isn’t how it is anymore. Children are increasingly choosing screens over movement and developing negative relationships with the idea of moving their bodies.

This job allows me to see the joy in the kid’s faces when we play ball, when the floor turns to lava, when we create obstacle courses, and when I get to teach them about weights and stretching.

It doesn’t have to be intense workouts, just teach kids how to love moving their bodies now so that they have a nice solid and HEALTHY foundation later.

Welcome to my crib ā¤ļø

I have a LOT of new followers since this past fall so I wanted to take some time to reintroduce myself.

My name is Lilianna, but my friends call my Lili (you can too if you want!).

I currently live in Connecticut but I was born and raised in Michigan 🧤

I’m a certified personal trainer through NASM, and have decided that I want to help others fall in love with themselves and fitness like I have. (Note: this love is something that is a continuous journey of hills and valleys. That’s okay if it is for you too.)

Outside of fitness, here’s some facts:

ā™„ļø Im a wife and doodle mom—they’re featured on this page occasionally.
ā™„ļø just turned 25 in December
ā™„ļø I enjoy being outside.
ā™„ļø I’m a social worker
ā™„ļø Currently in ED recovery.
ā™„ļø My favorite number is 3.
ā™„ļø I’m adopted!

Those are just a few quick facts. There’s so much I could share but that would be A LOT to read.

Anyways, I’m so glad you’re here!
Check out my previous posts and stay tuned for *weekly* live Instagram workouts.

Hello weekend, is that you?

I finally have a weekend off and I couldn’t be more thrilled! There’s so much time, who knows what I’ll do. Literally... I don’t know what I’ll do!

What’re you doing? Give me some ideas!

Hey you! Yes, YOU. I’m talking to you.

What are you doing for you, *insert name*?

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in a routine of completing stuff for OTHERS and forgetting that we NEED to give time to OURSELVES.

What do you like/want/need to make you feel happy and alive? What can you do to add more purpose to your life?

Are you working out? Taking a nap? Doing your favorite hobby? Eating your favorite snack? Watching your favorite show? Building your own empire?

I want you to reflect on this. For a minute, a day, a week, a month... it doesn’t really matter. Reflect and give yourself the true answer.

If the answer is nothing, or very little... CHANGE IT.

Put some of that time and energy back into yourself—you’re worth it (and never forget that).

Today, I have to tell you something. Something very very serious. Something that I just want to scream out loud.

I LOVE LOVING MYSELF!

Honestly, no joke. It’s been so liberating allowing myself the freedom to love every part of me and my life instead of identifying everything that ā€œneedsā€ to change.

I LOVE hyping myself up.

I LOVE treating my body right—drinking water, eating food I want to eat, moving my body every day, making my sleep a priority.

I LOVE wearing outfits that make me feel cute and strong.

I LOVE not being afraid to take these pictures in front of strangers.

I LOVE the way my body can get everything I need to get done done. That it gets me through my day. That it allows me to live my life.

I wish nothing more than self-love upon each and every one of you.

I want you all to wake up every day, and go to bed every night not only proud of yourself, but so in love with yourself.

It’s life changing.

Tell me, please, 1 thing that you LOVE about yourself. Just one (or more if you want).

You ever walk past the mirror and just... check yourself out?

I do! I do often. I did it last night. I’ll probably do it today too. Most likely tomorrow as well.

I think that we’ve been socialized to be afraid of looking in the mirror for a couple of reasons.
ā‡ļøWe’ve been taught to fear the image we see. To pick it apart. To see ourselves as something that is never ā€œperfectā€ enough.
ā‡ļø We’ve been taught that looking too much in the mirror makes us vain. Makes us self absorbed. Makes us narcissistic.

I think it’s time to reclaim checking yourself out.

There’s is nothing wrong with looking at yourself. There’s nothing wrong with saying admiring the beauty that you are. There’s nothing wrong thinking you look great today.

Do it. Do it with confidence. Do it at home, at the store, at the gym. I don’t care where, just do it.

I am giving you permission today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life to look in the mirror and check out the beautiful babe (or hottie, whatever word you’d like to use) lookin back at you.
