What a beautiful weekend in the Adirondacks!

I got to climb some of my favorite High Peaks with a great group of Outsiders.

Two days before we arrived, the Avalanche Pass trail opened (thanks volunteers), so we hiked the loop through Avalanche Lake to climb Colden. It was supposed to be cloudy with sprinkles, but it turned out to be blue bird. Congrats to Jamie for her first 46er.

Our second hike was Algonquin and Iroquois. The skies were blue and wind non-existent. We spent a lot of time enjoying these summits. Barb and Jim liked them so much, they “twisted my arm” to climb Wright too.

Father & Sons Trip

We scouted the High Falls Loop in the Five Pond Wilderness adjacent to Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. It offers great views of the Oswegatchie River from High Rock, a swimming hole at High Falls, and an amazing overlook on Cat Mountain.

We are shifting to this location for our September Backpacking Trip. We have ONE SPOT available.

For the month of August we decided to switch it up with an evening hike and ultra hike for the Adventure Club!

Outsiders enjoyed a hike at Royalton Ravine Thursday evening with warm temperatures, lots of sunshine and (unfortunately) lots of bugs. 🦟 🌳 ☀️We had an adorable trail pup who helped guide our way. 🐶

Saturday, six Outsiders hiked 20+ miles from the PA line through Allegany State Park. We motivated each other, cranking out miles and climbing to the ridge tops ⛰️🥾. We were hoping to see a bear 🐻 (or porcupine), but only saw several piles of bear s**t.

Congratulations Amy, Kevin, & Rick!
Latest ADK 46ers & first OC 46ers!

Kevin & Amy took a chance on our first Adirondack High Peaks trip in 2023 climbing their first High Peak, Big Slide. Rick joined our second trip to Tabletop having climbed Cascade already. Four short years later they are all 46ers from participating in OC trips.

I am honored to have been part of their journey. I am incredibly proud of them. They each started their journey for different reasons, grew as humans along the way, and became friends, and a trail family. We shared stories, some great laughs, and some hard climbs.

Great job Outsiders!

I had the privilege of hiking 36 miles on the Teton Crest Trail with some Outsiders. We hiked the trail in 3 days and 2 nights camping at Holly Lake and Death Canyon Shelf. The views were epic with incredible sights from Paintbrush Divide and Hurricane Pass. Our trek was highlighted by beautiful wild flowers and abundant wildlife.

We saw marmots, pikas, a bull moose, black bear, several mule deer, and big horn sheep. We had some excitement on night 2 when I heard our bear canisters rattling around and being scratched up. It turned out to be a persistent porcupine.

Thanks to Amanda for setting up this trip and the invite.
