More salmon fishing

The past few days we had south winds which pushed jellyfish up to the salmon grounds. We were on the search for the needle in the haystack. Not only did we find it , we found multiple hungry fish. Within 5 minutes of fishing we hooked our first fish. From then on, we had non-stop action till about 12 o’clock. A few more fish than we would have liked won the battle to live another day. Still managed to land over a fish per rod 14 king salmon to 18lbs for our group of 13.

Limits of Salmon

Another epic day on the salmon grounds. With the full moon and big tides it took a while to find the fish but once we did, we loaded down . 31 king salmon to 26lbs for our group of 15 . They even landed one for the crew .

Yet another great day on the rock cod grounds . Steady pick of mostly bottom dwellers with a few nice school fish in the mix. 120 rockfish and 1 ling cod for our group of 12.

Today we added over 10lbs to our season best which is now 33lbs!!. Also were greeted with a pod of Orcas (killer whales) thankfully they didn't eat our salmon. Slow start with a strong finish , ended the day with 8 king salmon to 33lbs for our group of 13 .

Our hot spot from the beginning of the week slowed up so we went on the hunt. Flat calm seas allowed us to cover a lot of ground . We didn't find the mother load but we definitely found something worth our efforts . We hooked over 30 fish. Everyone on the boat got their turn on the action. We ended up landing 9 king salmon to 19lbs (which is our season best so far…) also had a couple handfuls of fish we had to release and left some nice fish with sore lips to live another day .

Yet again another great day for us on the salmon grounds. Loads of action for us today , landing 22 king salmon for our 14 guys up to 16 lbs . We had to release 10+ fish that were just shy of the current minimum size limit; however starting this month on the 16th they all would have been keepers.

Well we did it again and landed on them today. Fishing was as good as it can get non-stop action from the time we put the lines in until we left (which was 10:56am) . Great grade of fish ranging from 12 to 16 lbs. 29king salmon for 13 guys. They even caught some fish for the crew!!!!

Update for our rock cod trips .We have been fishing more along the coast which has been producing limits of quality dwellers with a few bonus lings on all our trips. HMB Shrimp Flys still has been the go to.

Another great day on the salmon grounds for us again. We had quite a show with all the whales around today. Had hump backs , fin and blue whales lunge feeding all around the boat on massive bait balls of krill. Not only did we have a great whale show , we landed a fish per rod, 14 king salmon for our 14 guys .

Coastal rockfish limits

We headed down the coast today to change things up a bit. To the shallow waters off the beautiful san Mateo county coast line. We haven't fished in the shallows yet this year so we rolled the dice . The fish were on the chomp. One of the best rockfishing days of the season so far. Limits of mixed bags of quality dwellers and black rock fish. 108 rock fish, 2 cabezon and 3 lings to 14lbs for our 11 guys.

Well we decided to explore , to see if we couldn't find something better and we sure did. Not only did we find them . We also found a bigger grade of fish which ranged from 10-14lbs . We fell just two shy of the limit, 22 king salmon for 12 guys. We definitely had the two we needed on the hook but the fish won the fight. Still an excellent day of fishing with beautiful weather.
