Sometimes called Inverted Hang or Monkey in the Air, this exercise is part of the Cadillac repertoire in classical Pilates.
🔹 Origins in the Method:
Originally developed by Joseph Pilates using spring systems and padded straps (now known as fuzzies) on the Cadillac. He believed inversion helped decompress the spine and improve circulation—key to his whole-body health philosophy.
It’s one of the most iconic exercises in the traditional system, typically taught in the advanced repertoire.
🔹 Top Benefits:
• Spinal decompression and traction
• Myofascial release through back body and legs
• Nervous system regulation (calms stress, stimulates parasympathetic response)
• Improves circulation to the brain and heart
• Builds trust, body awareness, and confidence
It’s simple in shape but powerful in effect 😉
