Congratulations to Matt Bonvento for completing his dives for the SOLO Diver certification from SDI. The course really should be renamed as the "Self Sufficient Diver." Every diver no matter what certification they hold from any agency should strive to be a self sufficient diver. Many of today's divers rely far too much on their equipment to carry them through the dive. Even though today's equipment is far more reliable than it was years ago, it can still fail leading an incident to an accident. The SOLO diver course does allow a diver under certain circumstances to dive alone, just like someone is allowed to fly SOLO, but the main goal of the course is to focus on increasing a diver's basic skill levels and drilling into a diver the old concept of planning your dive and diving your plan with the added concept that if does not go as plan when to end the dive.
