Workouts for basketball will be cancelled tonight to allow for fall sports teams to utilize indoor facilities because of the heat. We will start fresh on Thursday 7-9pm in weight room. 💚

Good morning all, today is a day long over due for our South Hagerstown basketball program. We are looking to raise funds for a basketball shooting machine. This will be used for many years to come at South High. I am providing the the links to donate and an example of what a basketball shooting machine is. The Varsity Summer Rebels have won three in a row after an opening night loss. Following a loss to a tough and physical Brunswick team, the Summer Rebels have defeated Shalom, Boonsboro, and Walkersville leading to a 3-1 record, thus far.

The Summer Rebels have been excelling on the defensive end of the floor and controlling the glass, not allowing teams too many second chance’s.

The offensive has done much of its damage in transition and in the paint, led by Seniors Avery Cosley and Nygil Jefferies.

The defense has been scrappy and is improving each game. Juniors Russel Ignasiak, and Gavin Barton have been pesky putting pressure on the other teams guards.

The Summer Rebels look to keep improving next week with games against Waynesboro, Smithsburg, and Brunswick.

The JV Summer Rebels are finding their rhythm early in Summer League with big wins over James Buchanan, Shalom, and Middletown! The young Rebels took close losses to Waynesboro and Hedgesville leading to a 3-2 record, thus far.

Our young core is leading the charge:

King Miles (Fr): Dominating the paint and providing a massive inside presence.

Jamarey Fostion (So): Attacking the rim with relentless energy and locking down on the defensive end.

Jeremiah Shines (So): A true multi-level scorer who is making an impact on both sides of the ball.

The future is bright for this squad. Let’s keep the momentum going next week!

After five years with the program as a head coach of the freshman (1year) and JV (4years), Coach Keith Hutzell has stepped down. We appreciate his dedication and sacrifices over that time. Luckily, Coach is remaining on the staff in a new role and transitioning up to the varsity program to be an assistant coach. Thank you for your service and we look forward to seeing you in your new role in the program.💚
