Riverside at the 2026 NEUSFA Pomme de Terre. We acquitted ourselves well, had some good results, and generally had fun.

Yes, it's a (rather) competitive tournament, but there's a bit of a feeling of "this is a party!"

Thank you to the folks that make this event possible. We are spoiled.

PSA: heat-related illnesses. As we fence (or engage in any exercise), it behooves us to know some of the risks.

Also, take precautions: drink plenty of fluids, try to avoid exercising in the midday heat, take frequent breaks, consider indoor (air conditioned) alternatives.

Heat advisory in effect for our area from noon today through 8:00 PM tomorrow.

Attendance this week was terrific! All our classes were well-attended, and about 90% of our total membership came to the club to fence at least once this week!

From a couple weeks ago in Vermont: Two fencers from Riverside each scored toe touches! They happened to score them while fencing on the same strip, but against different opponents in different events.

Our Basics (level 1) class today. Those with noodles are brand new to fencing. Those with epees have been with us for at least a couple months.

Highlight of the day, Ellen FINNEGAN (left) fenced like a beast, took 13th place in the Veteran Combined Women's Epee event, and earned her B26 rating! Ellen was Riverside's top finisher in this event. CONGRATS !!
