Reminder: You can renew USA Fencing membership for 2026-2027 through today (July 31, 2026) at 2025-2026 rates. The rates change for many membership types starting tomorrow.

Washing masks. Soak in soapy water (we use an oxygen based cleaner and soak in a 5-gallon bin) for a few minutes, scrub insides and out with sponge, rinse, wring dry as possible, then hang to dry in front of a fan. Place towels underneath... They will drip a bit.

During the summer break, we prepare our epees for longer-term storage. Our ~5 minute process is edited down to about 2:30 in this video.

USA Fencing Summer Nationals... biggest tournament in the world. One drawback is that it can be difficult for coaches to coach all their fencers, since so many are competing simultaneously. Coaches have to miss out on a lot of the action, and they do a LOT of walking between strips to see as much as they can. Sometimes, three fencers are competing simultaneously, and if you stand on a chair, you can see all three strips.
