27MAY26 SYRACUSE IS HOLDING A CLINIC IN JUNE. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/BpUpamS3TQVjYfoTA

I have had a bunch of hemlocks around the trail cut down and also to widen the short penalty loop. I was able to deal with most of the brush by pushing it off the trail with the tractor.

26APR26 About 3ks of the bike loop is good to go. Thanks to leaf blowing by Andy, the easy part of the loop is nice. The single track parts of the trail are good but there are some wet spots on the ski trails. I still have to clear deadfall off the hard section and about another k off the house loop.

I have pretty much cleared the main ski loops that I could get to with the tractor. There are a few more big trees out there that I can’t get to yet.

25MAR26 It is still possible to ski. It has turned into Spring skiing but pretty good coverage still. I don't recommend trying it in the morning when it is cold as it will be pretty icy. (unless you have metal edges). tomorrow (Thursday looks good too at 59 degrees). Saturday does NOT look good because it will be quite frozen. Maybe Sunday afternoon but it will be even less by then. Erik Seyse skied it today and said it is good.

This is what the range looks like today.

21MAR26 It is still possible to spring ski on roughly a mile section. You may have to parch to patch. If it freezes at night wait until it softens up.

03/20/2026

20MAR26 I touched up the mile loop this morning and parked the groomer. I may go out again if we actually get snow on Saturday night, but they are calling for rain today. Still, we are around two weeks longer with skiing than last year.

LOST IZHMASH MAGAZINES! John Osowski inadvertently put 2 magazines into a red rifle carry case this winter at a race in Osceola. (very similar to his) If found, he is willing to give a reward. The magazines had a red or pinkish dot on the bottom. If found and returned he would greatly appreciate it. If found, please contact me at [email protected] or cell 518-226-2066. And I will connect you with him.

19MAR26 I was able to groom the 1 mile loop this morning and it is still pretty good. There are very few icy spots. I fear that tomorrow morning will be the last time I can groom and any skiing after that will probably be patch to patch spring skiing.

18 MAR TRAIL UPDATE! 12:14 There is a 1-mile loop groomed for skating and it is pretty nice all things considered, Thanks to our friend Betsy, an all-day job was reduced to about 2 hours. There were 4 trees down and we pretty much did the minimum to get the groomer by. We also picked up millions of small branches and sticks. Luckily the teeth on the groomer did the lion's share of the work but had to be emptied out every 100 yards or so. I did not groom through the range as it is around 1/2 ice now. It is best to ski backwards out of the range and the loop is at the top of the hill. It is better to hang a right at the top and head towards the green outhouse, but you can do it either way. It wont last too much longer.
