Paradise City Dragons had a fabulous time on Saturday at the 25th annual Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races in Pawtucket! It was our first time as a team racing in Taiwanese boats, they are 2,000 pounds heavier than we’re used to. Oh, and we had to position a flag catcher at the front of the boat for each race. Eventually we got the hang of it and raced our way to silver!!
Thank You Rhode Island! We can’t wait to come back next year!

On August 22 Paradise City Dragon Boat co-hosted an ecotour along the Connecticut River along with naturalist Laurie Sanders of NPR’s Field Notes fame. A fundraiser for the Northampton Historical Society, participants enjoyed a dragon boat paddling lesson and learned about the history of the river spanning from hundreds of thousands years back through the Industrial Age. Egrets, blue herons and mergansers all made appearances. The river did its part by providing a cool overcast morning and water like glass.

As we begin welcoming back our BCP teammates who competed in France last weekend and huge shout out to their supporters who competed in a race of their own and came in 11th overall.
This entire experience could not have been made possible without the tireless support of these amazing paddlers, teammates, spouses and dear friends 💖

We have TWELVE BCP teammates and their supporters headed to Europe this week to race in the 2026 IBCPC Dragon Boat Festival in Aix-Les-Bains, France!
They’ll be paddling on the composite team Baystate Connection Dragons which includes breast cancer warriors from across Massachusetts.
