Hope all our members are doing well. I thought I would remind everyone that turkey season will be coming up pretty soon and there shouldn't be any corn out at the club. Also, if you plan avoiding the $200 camper fee you need to have your camper removed from our camp by April 6th.

Weyerhaeuser sent us a notice of some thinning they will be doing soon. No map was included on the location. There is a description of the type thinning they will do.

Dear Hunting Club
This is a courtesy notification regards an upcoming forest activity on your lease. Please share this notice with all your club members.

A portion of the property you currently lease will receive a precommercial pine thinning. This activity is scheduled to take place between next week and early April.
A precommercial thinning is generally for pine stands under 10 years old that are overstocked with unwanted naturally seeded pines. This activity is different than a commercial harvest thinning as it involves select removal of several small unwanted pine seedlings and the process is done by hand using chainsaws. A crew can thin approximately 40 acres per day. Therefore, you should not see the thinning crews on your lease for a long duration. Contractors have several properties to thin and will decide when this activity occurs based on their schedule and weather conditions. Weyerhaeuser will not be able to provide exact timing.

We appreciate your cooperation with our foresters and contractors during this phase of timberland management.

Oh No!!! Sunday the 14th the 2023/24 deer season draws to a close. Hope all our members enjoyed themselves. Looks like we had a pretty good year with over 40 deer logged in so far. We will be cutting off the main breaker for electricity Monday after season end so make sure all refrigerates are cleaned out. Please make sure you clean up around your camper area .... make things look neat. Also, haul off garbage that also includes the pavilon. The folks that maintain the port-a-john will be notified to pick it up (we won't be billed after January). The deadline to avoid the $200 camper fee is April 6th. Two members tagged late season bucks Bryan Young and John Zemmer. So what do you do if you have one day of vacation left .... you go hunting of course. Holland Cook took a nice North Carolina buck on his day off.
