Story behind the pic:

June 2021
First day of a 3 day gorge trip, railed fish all the way down to where we were camping at Cowboy that night, then Gunny got this fish to the net right before dinner!

Me: Hey Gunny throw on this size 2 orange stimi

Gunny: You sure that things fu**in hugeeee

Me: I’m sure…. Cast it in that cut bank right above the rapid, I’ll hold us here.

One cast later….. fish on!!

Gunny: Well I’ll be damned….

Moral of the story, always trust the guide! Being a younger guide with mainly older clients you face a lot of doubt, but a good guide doesn’t talk the talk, he walks it and puts on the right fly and shows his clients his knowledge. But regardless of age or s*x, trust your damn guide please!! 😂 Gunny and Mitch were such a pleasure to have in the boat. Gunny a retired Marine spec ops soldier and Mitch a retired Army special forces green beret. I couldn’t tell you the amount of s**t talk and fish we caught between all of us those three days in the boat but I sure got off the water with a massive grin and sore cheeks from laughing almost 3 days straight! Love my job…

What to expect your first day hiking into this magical place we call the Gunni Gorge…..

-Beautiful cactus

-Steep treacherous cliffs off the trail

-Gorgeous Precambrian black rock mixed with veins of white and pink crystals

-And then at last, a strip of green lush river slithering its ancient path down a gateway to the desert from the rocky mountains…. Breath taking is how I describe the first picture. But that’s only a glimpse at what is to come in the days following.
