🍂 What’s coming up for Active Adults at the Rec Center? LOTS! 🍂

September is shaping up to be a fantastic month to get out, try something new, meet some people, and enjoy the changing season! Here’s what’s coming up:

🚗 Tuesday, Sept. 8 | Color Change Drive | $10
Meet at 8:00 AM for a drive up-valley to catch the first stages of the fall colors. There are still spots available! If you didn’t pre-register, show up at 7:50 AM with $10 and get ready for some spectacular views!

🍗 Wednesday, Sept. 9 | End of Summer Community Meal & Celebration | $10
Join us for 4:00 PM BYOB happy hour and mingling, followed by a 5:00 PM BBQ chicken dinner with all the fixin’s and ice cream for dessert! Spots are still available, so register ASAP! There will be music, games and FUN!

🐦 Saturday, Sept. 12 | FREE Bird Walk
Join local birding expert Arden Anderson at 8:00 AM for a fun morning outdoors. The walk is FREE, but advanced registration is required.

🥾 Tuesday, Sept. 15 | Handies Peak 14er | $20
Ready for a bigger adventure? Join us for a hike to the top of 14er Handies Peak!

🍁 Thursday, Sept. 18 | Low Key Leaf Peeper Stroll | $10
Want to enjoy the fall colors without the hiking? This one is for you! Come enjoy a relaxed stroll and take in the changing landscape.

🌻 Friday, Sept. 18 | Make Your Own Floral Arrangement | $10
Create your own beautiful arrangement with Sundrop Flora! Thanks to some help from Mountain Roots, the first 12 participants to register can participate for just $10.

✨ Come be part of the fun! There’s a little something for everyone this month, whether you want to hike, explore, eat, learn, create, or simply get out and enjoy the season.

The Rec Center will be OPEN on Labor Day from 8:00am-6:00pm. The pools will close at 5:45pm. There will not be any senior or adult fitness classes, meals, or youth programs. We will be back to our regular hours the following day.

September is kicking off with a great mix of **hiking, dancing, creativity, community, and good food!** 🍁

📣 **SIGN UP ASAP!** ALL activities (except the Community Feedback Meeting) require advance registration, so don’t wait! These activities are all happening this week, but there is still time to register!

🥾 **PASS CREEK LOOP HIKE | September 1
Easy+ | ~4 miles | ~700' elevation gain
Meet at the Rec Center at 8:00am
Explore this hidden West Elks gem with beautiful aspens, meadows, spruce-fir forests, stream crossings, and a little trail-finding adventure along the way!

💬 **SENIOR CENTER COMMUNITY FEEDBACK MEETING | September 1 **
Have ideas for the future of the Senior Center? Join Alicia to share what you love, what could be improved, and programs you'd like to see again or try for the first time. **Your ideas can help shape what comes next!** 11am (No RSVP required)

🤘🏁 They Came. They Rode. They Grinded. 🏁🤘
Bikes, dirt, speed, big smiles, a few wipeouts, and A LOT of laps later—we’ve officially wrapped up another awesome Gunni Grinders Race Series! We are so proud of each rider who rode hard, pushed themselves, cheered on their friends, and kept those wheels turning all season long.

The Rec Center will be closed for public use from Saturday, August 22 through Friday, August 28th. There will be NO indoor public use except for our After School program.

We will be hosting the Gunnison Valley Triathlon on Saturday morning (hey now, you can still sign up!) and then will be closed while we tackle our cleaning projects for the week.

We will be back open for our regular hours on Saturday, August 29th!

🀄 NEVER PLAYED MAHJONG (or need a refresher)? PERFECT! 🀄

This class is for you!

Join us for 4 weeks of Beginner Mahjong, where we’ll learn (or relearn) the game together in a slow, steady, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. No experience required, no partner needed, and no pressure to already know what you’re doing. Questions are encouraged! 😊

You’ll have a chance to:
