Hey , THIS is what ballpark moms actually look like. 😂⚾️

After seeing all the questions about where the wagons, tents, snacks, giant cups, folding chairs, and overloaded baseball bags were… we figured we’d provide a little real-life representation from Gulfport Sportsplex.

Because around here, ballpark moms come prepared.

Wagon? ✅
Tent? ✅
Chairs? Absolutely. ✅
Game Changer set up? Somebody got it! ✅
Speaker? Probably. ✅
Enough gear to survive an entire weekend at the complex? Without question. ✅

No tiny purse is making it through a full tournament weekend over here. 😂

FIELD CLOSURE | AUGUST 24, 2026

With local school districts releasing students early and weather conditions impacting the area, we have made the decision to CLOSE ALL FIELDS at Gulfport Sportsplex for the remainder of today, Monday, August 24.

This closure includes all baseball/softball diamonds and soccer fields.

The safety of our athletes, families, coaches, staff, and guests remains our top priority. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation.

Please continue to monitor our social media channels for any additional updates.

Sometimes it’s bigger than baseball.

For J.C. Brignone of Showtime Sports, one of the most meaningful moments from organizing youth baseball tournaments wasn’t a championship game.

It was handing a brand-new bat to a talented young player whose family couldn’t afford one—and seeing what that opportunity meant to him.

That’s what Competition Capital: Beyond the Brackets is about.

The wins matter. The trophies matter. But so do the coaches who pick kids up for games, the tournament directors who invest back into young athletes, and the moments that can change the trajectory of a kid’s life.

Every underdog deserves a team.

This National Dog Day, we’re celebrating the four-legged friends who become part of our families, our routines and sometimes even our Sportsplex stories.

We’re also proud to recognize our friends at Misfits & Underdogs and the work they do to advocate for animals who need someone in their corner.

We’ve seen firsthand how a little patience, compassion and teamwork can make a difference for an animal in need. And just like in sports, sometimes the underdog simply needs an opportunity.

Today, show us the MVP of your household!

Due to rain and current field conditions, the following areas at Gulfport Sportsplex are CLOSED today, Thursday, August 13:

• Soccer Fields 1–6
• Diamonds 1–9

These closures help protect our playing surfaces and ensure they remain safe and playable for our athletes.

🥎 College coaches came to the Coast.

This past weekend, Gulfport Sportsplex welcomed the Gulf Coast Softball Exposure Camp, bringing college softball coaches from across the country together with fastpitch athletes looking to take their game to the next level.

Different programs. Different parts of the country. One shared goal: creating opportunities for the next generation of college softball players.

Take a listen as some of the coaches who joined us introduce themselves and the programs they represent.

We were proud to provide the stage for athletes to compete, learn, make connections, and gain valuable exposure.

The game may end when the final out is recorded, but building a great tournament experience starts long before teams take the field.

On the premiere episode of Competition Capital: Beyond the Brackets at Gulfport Sportsplex, we sit down with J.C. Brignone of Showtime Sports, a former SEC and NFL athlete who has taken lessons from competition into business, consulting, and sports-event promotion.

Today, J.C. serves as a tournament promoter for Grand Slam Sports Tournaments, helping create competitive experiences for youth athletes, coaches, and families.

We go beyond the brackets to discuss J.C.’s journey from athlete to entrepreneur and promoter, the business behind successful tournaments, what event organizers look for in a host destination, and why the experience surrounding the games matters just as much as what happens between the lines.

It’s a conversation about competition, leadership, relationships, sports tourism, and what it takes to build events that teams and families want to return to.
