Brad Palazzo made a name for himself as one of the top kickers to come out of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The former Gulfport High School standout went on to become a four-year starter at Tulane University, where he established himself as one of the premier kickers in college football.

In 1997, Palazzo earned All-American and All-Conference USA honors after an outstanding season that showcased his consistency and leg strength. During his collegiate career, he connected on 23 of 28 field goal attempts in his best season, an impressive 82% success rate.

He also played a key role on Tulane’s historic 1998 undefeated 12-0 squad, one of the greatest seasons in school history.

Following college, Palazzo earned an opportunity with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent and later continued his professional football career in the XFL.

Shane Matthews was one of the most accomplished quarterbacks to come out of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The former Pascagoula High School standout developed into a star at University of Florida under legendary coach Steve Spurrier.

During his career with the Florida Gators Football, Matthews became one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, leading the Gators’ explosive offense and helping elevate Florida into a national powerhouse during the early 1990s.

Known for his accuracy, leadership, and football IQ, Matthews left his mark as one of the SEC’s premier signal callers.

His success at Florida led to the NFL, where he was selected in the draft and went on to play professionally for multiple teams during his career.

Former Gulfport Admiral Jonathan Nance made his impact known as one of the top wide receivers to come through the SEC during his college football career. Playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Nance emerged as a major offensive weapon, leading the Razorbacks in both receiving yards and touchdown receptions during his junior season.

In 2017, Nance ranked among the Top 10 receivers in the SEC in receptions, showcasing his big-play ability against some of the nation’s top competition.

After his time at Arkansas, he transferred to University of Missouri to finish his collegiate career with the Missouri Tigers Football.

Tank Williams established himself as one of the best defensive backs to ever come out of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The former Bay High School standout built a reputation as a hard-hitting playmaker before taking his talents to Stanford University.

During his collegiate career with the Stanford Cardinal Football, Williams became one of the top defensive backs in the nation, earning All-Pac-10 honors three times. In his senior season, he was named a first-team All-Pac-10 selection and became the first defensive back in Stanford history to receive national first-team honors. His physical style of play, leadership, and football IQ made him one of the premier safeties in college football.

Williams’ outstanding career led to the NFL, where he was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

Lorenzo Diamond made his mark as one of the top football players to come through Biloxi High School. The former Biloxi Indian standout earned All-State honors at tight end, and was a premier recruit in Mississippi.

Diamond’s talent earned him a scholarship to play for the Auburn Tigers, where he continued to develop into a dominant presence on the field.

After his collegiate career, Diamond achieved his dream of playing in the NFL, spending time with the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.

Marcus Hinton, known by the nickname “6’6” for his height and explosive playmaking ability, was one of the most dangerous receivers in Alcorn State University history. A former two-star athlete from Stone County High School, Hinton became the primary target for legendary quarterback Steve McNair during their memorable years together at Alcorn State. His combination of size, athleticism, and big-play ability made him a nightmare matchup for defenses. Hinton went on to break Alcorn State’s career receiving touchdown record with 26 touchdowns, cementing his legacy as one of the school’s all-time greats. He later continued his football career professionally with the Las Vegas Raiders franchise and the New Orleans Saints, while also showcasing his talents in the XFL and NFL Europe.

Tony Burks was one of the most explosive playmakers to come out of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A standout at Harrison Central High School, Burks earned High School All-American honors in 2004, showcasing elite speed, athleticism, and big-play ability. He continued his dominance at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he became a JUCO All-American and one of the top junior college receivers in the nation. Burks later finished his collegiate career at Mississippi State University, where he ranked among the school’s Top 10 all-time leaders in career receiving yards at the time of his departure. Known as a dangerous deep threat with outstanding leaping ability, Burks had a knack for making explosive plays and leaving defenders behind.

Senquez Golson delivered a legendary season in 2014 at Ole Miss, recording 10 interceptions one of the most impressive single-season performances ever by an Ole Miss Rebel defensive back. He currently ranks fifth all-time in school history for career interceptions. His standout play earned him a Senior Bowl nomination and ultimately led to being selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
