This weekend was something I’ll never forget.
I ended up taking 1st place on masters and 2nd place in the pro division at surf contest, which was already an amazing feeling, but honestly, that wasn’t even the highlight for me.
After one of my heats, I came out of the water and all the kids started yelling, “Metro! Metro!” and running over for high-fives. For a moment, I felt like one of those pro surfers you see at the big events, where everyone is cheering and excited to see them come out of the water.
I’ve been surfing for many years, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like that. Seeing all those kids smiling, watching the competition, and getting excited about surfing meant more to me than any trophy. It reminded me why I fell in love with this sport in the first place.
It was a special moment and a real blessing. The support, the energy, and being able to inspire the next generation of surfers is something I’ll carry with me for a long time.
Thank you to everyone who cheered me on. Those high-fives and smiles meant more than you know.
