Our Hall of Famers - Day 42 The Skyline Buck. This story is so unique and one of my all time favorite hunts. Because of the scouting, quality of deer, the age class and how tough he was to find, patience and hard work and patterning of bucks over the years all paid off on the final afternoon. Thanks Mike Perdue for your confidence in me and Thank God for truly an answered prayer. I found this buck two days before opener. A spotting scope from a long ways away. We looked, we glassed, and spend a lot of time and could not find him or a track. Last day, last evening, I pulled into a valley that had always produced big bucks, with the verse from that morning on my mind "Lift your eyes up unto the hills" I had been watching ridge lines all day long after reading that verse. There was only time for one more afternoon hunt before the season ended, so I pulled into the canyon where I hoped he would show.... We had worked that valley 5 or 6 times trying to locate him that week to no avail. When I pulled through that gate, I heard the client say, "Donny, you sure have a lot of faith in this canyon!", lol And then God showed up....there he was, skylined at sundown, chasing a doe. A long fast stalk, a 52 yard shot and now he's on the wall. May God Bless all of you that have followed these posts. God Bless America!
