🎃 FREE COMMUNITY HALLOWEEN COSTUME SWAP 🎃
TO HAVE A VILLAGE, WE HAVE TO BE THE VILLAGE
You don’t have to have children of your own to show up for the children in your community.
Most of us want to help local families. We want the people growing up here to feel supported, included, and celebrated, but don’t always know where to begin.
Hearthside Home Keepers, through our Hearthside Foundation, has organized a completely free Halloween Costume Swap with costumes available for children, teens, and adults alike. Halloween magic does not have an age limit, and neither does this event!
How does the swap work?
We’ll be collecting clean, gently used and brand-new costumes, masks, wigs, accessories, and costume pieces from community members and local businesses.
Everything collected will be brought together for a free community event where people of all ages can look through the selection and choose something to take home.
You do not have to donate a costume to receive one. There is no buying, selling, or trading required. Costumes are donated by our community and given right back to our community.
Halloween costumes are often worn once, outgrown, and forgotten in a closet. Meanwhile, someone else in our town may be dreaming of becoming that exact witch, superhero, dinosaur, princess, vampire, ghost, or gloriously strange creature.
These costumes deserve another adventure!
There is a place in this event for everyone.
🤩Local business owners can host a collection box, donate new costumes or accessories, share the event, or help us reach more families.
🤩Parents can donate the costumes their children have outgrown.
🤩Adults can donate costumes they no longer wear and come find something new for themselves.
🤩People without children can purchase a costume to donate, search their closets for costumes and accessories, volunteer, or simply spread the word.
🤩We also need volunteers on the day of the swap to help us set everything up and break everything down afterward.
Tomorrow, Sam and I will be walking through town, stopping at local businesses and handing out flyers. We’re also contacting our local schools to arrange costume drop-off days where parents can easily pass along the costumes their children have outgrown.
This is an opportunity for our entire town to come together and create something people of every age can enjoy. Imagine our local businesses, schools, families, and neighbors all contributing to racks of costumes waiting for their next adventure.

What better way to be the village than by helping our neighbors celebrate one of the most important holidays of the year? We may be slightly biased about that last part. 🖤
