Our Story
We have been in the business of taking the general public fishing continuously since 1946. Hel-Cat II is a custom designed and built Party Fishing Boat also known in the trade as a “Head Boat” because we charge by the head. It is NOT a charter boat. You come down before sailing time, get aboard, stake out your spot at the rail and pay your fare. The boat at 114’ in length is the largest Party Fishing Boat in New England. In season we make daily trips to the fishing grounds as per our schedule posted on our web site, www.helcat.com While you’re there take a look on our history page, it shows the progression of the operation since its inception including construction photos of Hel-Cat II from start to finish.
Off season the boat is available for weekday charters to large groups for fishing, cruising or transportation of groups up to 150 passengers.
This is a very family oriented business. Some say they are but we really are. In keeping with that designation, for the well being and comfort of all who come aboard we do not allow alcoholic beverages to be brought aboard. That is done totally to prevent overindulgence. Alcohol, salt water and fishing equipment are a bad combination. We don’t want abusers to become a danger to themselves and a nuisance to all others on the boat. There is draft beer available at the Galley for those over 21. You can enjoy some with your lunch or on the way back to port but those who try to overindulge are shut off.
