“He didn’t play his first season of ice hockey until U14 in 2021-22.”
“On the island, Cover became a local roller hockey and soccer star. Roller hockey was every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. When he wasn’t on his rollerblades, on the pitch or in school, he was at the beach or boating.”
Jaxon Cover was raised on Grand Cayman and is expected to be selected in the first two rounds of the 2026 NHL Draft.
Starting out in roller hockey, his parents knew he had talent, but were unaware just how much until the North American Roller Hockey Championships when he was 6.
Cover played for two teams that weekend, suiting up for the Cayman Islands team and also filling in for another.
He scored 52 goals between the two teams, and in the final, the roller arena was packed to watch Cover.
