Hello Families,
This is not how I wanted to tell you about the gym closing. I have several emails from the landlord indicating that I had until October 1 to clear the gym, and I had many of the equipment spoken for. The landlord cleared the gym prior to the date he indicated for reason's unknown. I was still trying to negotiate with him to keep it open until October 31.
Unfortunately, the gym is closed indefinitely. I hope to re-open at a different location in a smaller facility in the same area in a couple of years. I will be starting out smaller and one step at a time. Calumet Gymnastics Club opened on November 1, 2019. As we were just starting to get our feet wet and gain some students, Covid happened. Once the world re-opened, it was still slow with all the 6ft and mask mandation's, in addition to parents being extra cautious. This made it a slow reopening. We finally picked up around early 2021, and began to thrive until July 2022 when some unfortunate, drastic family events occurred. My daughter was removed from the gym, I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, and many rumors began causing the enrollments to literally cut in half. Unfortunately, we were not able to gain those enrollments back. Many of you may know, I am going through an exhausting, time consuming divorce with kids that has affected not only my emotional health, but my physical health, which has affected my coaching, management, preventative maintenance, and marketing duties.
Regardless, I wouldn't not have been able to keep the gym opened this long if it weren't for Coach Mandy. She was my right hand and was able to jump in at the drop of a dime. We both have a huge passion for the sport of gymnastics and we loved teaching it to your children. It breaks our hearts that not only we closed, that we closed on these abrupt terms.
I hope this is a good-bye for now.
