Today, we honor Juneteenth—a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth reminds us not only of a pivotal moment in American history but also of the ongoing work to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
At the YMCA, we believe in creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on the importance of unity, understanding, and ensuring opportunities for all.
Join us in honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans today and every day.
❤️💛💚 Happy Juneteenth from your YMCA family.
