Remembering the Life, Love & Legacy of Our Program Director,
"Cynthia Blunt"
Romans 12:9 “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
To know her was to know a woman who was genuine. She was strong, dependable, outspoken when she needed to be, caring, and loyal to the people she loved. She could make you laugh, tell you the truth, disagree with you, and still love you when the conversation was over. She was not a person who needed relationships to be perfect for them to be real.
She believed in showing up. She believed in helping people, and she had a heart for the individuals and families we served. During her more than 10 years with L&G, she grew from being someone we worked beside into an important part of the leadership and foundation of this agency, serving as our Program Director and carrying responsibilities that helped L&G become what it is today.
Her position was never what made her phenomenal to us.
It was who she was when there was no title attached to her name.
She was the person you could call. The person you could depend on. The person who had been there long enough to know the good, the bad, the struggles, the accomplishments, and the things nobody else saw. We laughed together, cried together, prayed together, disagreed at times, forgave one another, and kept loving one another.
She did not build her relationships around jealousy, envy, drama, or vindictiveness. She understood that genuine relationships have room for other people to love you too. She could be herself, allow you to be yourself, and still find her way back to what mattered.
She was real.
She was family, but the relationship we developed went far beyond blood. She became our sister. Her husband, Webster, became part of our extended L&G family, and her daughter, Briana, who also worked alongside us, became our niece. Those are relationships that her passing does not erase.
When we describe her as phenomenal, we are not saying she was perfect. None of us are. We are saying her presence mattered. Her work mattered. Her friendship mattered. Her loyalty mattered. The years she poured into this agency mattered. And most of all, she mattered to us.
She helped make L&G more than a workplace. She helped make it a family.
That is how we will remember our Program Director and one of our own. So today, through our tears, we say “Cheers to you, our sweet sister, Cyn! Until we meet again!
