Inspired by that definition, 3-46 GRIT CrossFit became a place of change, where people step out of their comfort zones and fight the fear and doubt that can lead to complacency. We use innovative and fun classes adapted for all fitness levels, the most inspirational and dedicated coaches in the Portland fitness industry, and with over 30 y

ears of experience in strength training, we hope to bring to you an amazing fitness experience unlike any other!

3-46 GRIT CrossFit may seem simple and unassuming, but don't let our concrete floors, bay doors, and graffitied walls fool you. We train with barbells, kettlebells, tractor tires, climbing ropes, slam balls, and atlas stones in an effort to be 100% formidable and frankly, harder to kill. There’s another side to our gym and that is the Community we have built through the years. That community is what keeps our doors open, our music blaring, and our weights moving. That community is what gives our lives purpose and that community is what we are so excited to share with everyone that walks through our doors. Too many people quit because they think they need to be perfect.

They miss a workout, eat one bad meal, have a busy week, and convince themselves they’ve fallen off track.

The truth?

Results don’t come from perfection, they come from consistency.

Consistency isn’t about never missing. It’s about showing up again and again, especially when life gets busy, motivation fades, or things don’t go according to plan.

The strongest, healthiest, most successful members in our community aren’t perfect. They’re the ones who keep coming back.

🔥 GRIT LEGEND OF THE MONTH 🔥
This month we’re proud to recognize David Van Vleck as our 3-46 GRIT CrossFit Legend of the Month.

Fun fact… David didn’t start CrossFit because he wanted to. He started because his wife Emily made him after back surgery. Now he’s out here attacking workouts on the regular 😅

He also says the hardest, most expensive, and most awesome thing he’s ever done is raising three kids… and honestly, every parent reading this understands exactly what he means 😂

And somehow through all of it, he’s been with us for almost a decade now. That’s a long time to commit to anything… let alone showing up consistently and CrossFitting your face off day after day 😈

But what really makes David special is the mindset he brings into the gym and into life:

“No matter what, just keep going.”

That advice came from a mentor at work, but David has applied it everywhere. Through challenges, setbacks, hard workouts, and life itself.

And if you know David, you know that’s exactly who he is. Consistent. Humble. Hard working. Never dramatic. Just keeps moving forward one step at a time.

That attitude is contagious inside this community and a huge reason why we’re proud to call him ONE OF US!

We’re proud to be an education hub for CrossFit and the Pacific Northwest. This means a lot to us because coaching and development matter 🙌🏽

Why the Hybrid Level 2 matters:

The Hybrid format combines online learning with one in person weekend day, making continuing education more realistic for busy coaches.

Coaches arrive prepared, allowing more time for movement, coaching, cueing, and hands on development.

Less travel. Less hotel cost. Less missed work. More accessibility for coaches from all over.

On this Memorial Day, let us never forget those who gave their lives for the freedoms we cherish in this great country 🇺🇸

May we remember their sacrifice not only today, but every day. May we hold them deep in our hearts and honor them through the way we live, lead, and serve others.

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY MURPH 🇺🇸

This Monday we take on Murph, not as just another workout, but as a chance to come together as a community and honor something bigger than ourselves 🦅

Heats:
• 9AM
• 10AM
• BBQ: 12PM 🍔🌭🍉
• 5PM

Show up early to warmup. Workouts begin at the times listed above ⬆️ And bring a chair to relax in!

Whether this is your first Murph or your 15th, we’ve got you covered. We’ll have scaling options, along with partner and team variations, so everyone can show up and be a part of it.

But don’t lose sight of what this day represents.

This isn’t about leaderboard spots or personal accolades. It’s about remembering and honoring the men and women who gave everything for the freedoms we get to live with every day.

We do this workout in honor of Lt. Michael Murphy and all those who never made it home.

Show up with intention.
Push when it gets hard.
Encourage the people around you.

✊🏽THE WORK YOU DON’T SEE✊🏽

This post idea came from my normal routine, the very same routine I’ve done for years.

Before every class I coach, I sit down and write a lesson plan.

Every. Single. Class.

Not because I have to, not because I think I’ve got it all figured out, but because I GET TO and because preparation matters.

Today I watched a great YouTube from CrossFit Training where some of the best Red Shirts in the world talked about doing this exact same thing. STILL! After YEARS of coaching at the highest level.

That fired me up 🔥

My current coaching notebook goes back to September 2024. It’s full of notes, class flow, coaching cues, timelines, scaling options, reminders, adjustments, and lessons learned along the way.

And I’m proud of that.

I’m proud our members probably have no idea how much work actually goes into a one hour class. They just get to experience a coach who gives a s**t enough to prepare with intention and coach with purpose 🙌🏽

And no, it’s never perfect but that’s the point!

We’re not chasing perfection, we’re chasing growth, consistency, and excellence.

Because somewhere on the road to perfection, if you stay committed long enough, you stumble into excellence.

And that’s the secret 🤫

Huge congratulations to Kristi Boedeker and Adam Nesheim for officially passing their CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course 🎉

What makes this accomplishment even more meaningful is that these two are already incredible members of our community. They show up, work hard, support others, and embody what CrossFit is truly about 🙌🏽

Now, they become part of something even bigger… a worldwide community of CrossFit coaches committed to helping others reach their fullest potential through health, wellness, nutrition, and fitness ♾️

Coaching is more than counting reps and running class. It’s leadership. It’s service. It’s helping people believe they’re capable of more than they thought possible 💯
