You're allowed to rest, to feel safe, to laugh, to make plans

You're allowed to enjoy while healing

Healing isn't just about getting through the day

It's about remembering what it feels like to actually live it

Tight shoulders.

A clenched jaw.

Restlessness.

Exhaustion.

A stomach that won't settle.

Feeling like you can't slow down.

Sometimes paying attention to what's happening in your body can be the first clue that something needs attention.

Slow down.

Notice.

Breathe.

And if something doesn't feel right, talk to someone.

Because sometimes the people around us have no idea what's happening behind the smile.

Pick one person.

Tell them something real.

You don't have to tell them everything.

Just let someone in.

Horses communicate through movement, posture, attention and body language.

When you're working alongside one, you have to slow down enough to notice what's happening—and to become aware of what you're communicating, too.

That's one of the things that makes the horse-human relationship so interesting in equine-assisted services.

Sometimes the lesson isn't about getting the horse to do something.

Sometimes it's about learning to notice.

What am I feeling?
What am I communicating?
What do I need?

Sometimes those are questions worth asking ourselves, too.

Sometimes healing doesn't begin with fixing.

Sometimes it begins with honesty.

“This hurts.”

“I'm angry.”

“I'm scared.”

“I'm tired.”

“I need help.”

You don't have to turn a hard feeling into a positive one.

You can tell the truth about where you are.

That's a place to start.

Sometimes we don't need a crowd.

We need connection.

Someone who notices.

Someone who listens.

Someone who doesn't immediately try to fix us.

Someone who can sit in the quiet with us.

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month. 💜🩵

This month, we want to make a little more room for conversations that aren't always easy to have.

Not just reminders to “reach out,” but honest conversations about why reaching out can feel so hard in the first place.

About sitting beside someone when you don't know what to say. Checking in again when “I'm fine” doesn't quite feel like the whole answer. Listening without trying to fix everything. And being willing to ask the uncomfortable questions when they matter.

Because sometimes the hardest part isn't needing someone. It's finding the words to say that you do. We won't always have the perfect thing to say. We won't always know exactly what someone needs.

But we can listen. We can check in. We can stay.

And we can make a little more room for the hard conversations; whenever you're ready. 💛

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

We are so quick to judge ourselves.

“I'm lazy.”

“I'm falling behind.”

“Why can't I just get it together?”

Sometimes what looks like laziness from the outside is someone struggling on the inside.

Be a little gentler with yourself.

And if you've been struggling for a while, tell somebody.

You deserve support, not shame.

It doesn't need to know what happened yesterday.

It doesn't need to know why you're quiet.

It doesn't need you to explain why you're having a hard day.

You can just show up.

And when you're ready, you can start from there.

Sometimes you know something isn't right, but you don't have the words for it yet.

That's okay.

You can say:

“I don't know what's wrong.”

“I just don't feel like myself.”

“I need somebody.”

You don't have to understand everything you're feeling before you're allowed to talk about it.

Start wherever you can, we'll listen 💚
