Congratulations to our very own on being selected as the recipient of the 2025 USTA South Carolina President’s Award! The following was said during the award ceremony in Hilton Head last month and we could not agree more!!

Each year, the President’s Award honors someone who represents everything wonderful about our tennis community — a person whose leadership, service, and passion bring people together through this sport we all love. This year’s honoree has served USTA South Carolina in countless ways — as a board member, a strategic thinker, a tireless volunteer, and a local leader whose heart for community shines through in everything she does. Her journey is also a wonderful reminder of the power of tennis to connect people. Though she ā€œgrew up in a tennis family but never played,ā€ one neighbor’s invitation changed everything. What began as a simple ā€œyesā€ turned into a lifelong passion, a network of friends, and years of service helping others find the same joy.

Congrats on this well deserved honor!!

We had so much fun at our Annual UPTA Women’s Brunch!! A few points of business discussed between mimosas from our Mimosa Bar (sponsored by Maryanne SpiveyšŸ„‚)

1. Let There Be Mom was our Title Sponsor as we welcomed Worth Burns, our beloved Katie’s husband to lead our prayer for breakfast.
2. We raised over $5,000 for the Burns family with our AMAZING raffle items ticket sells
3. We collected food for the Greer Food Relief, food and supplies for Greenville Company Animal Care, and filled our UPTA CTA Community Tennis Closet
4. We raised over $5,000 for Jen Smith’s sons’ 529 plans.
5. We celebrated our teams who won their division each season and provided a fence tag for their facilities.
6. We thanked and celebrated Jen Smith for her 8 amazing years as our Local League Coordinator and welcomed Keri McGrath as our new LLC for the 2026 year.
Thank you to our Upstate Tennis Community for showing up, showering our organizations with your donations, and for helping grow Tennis in our area. None of this would be possible without you guys, and this brunch would not be possible without the hard work of our amazing volunteers. We will see you on the courtšŸŽ¾
