Why do I stay “in shape?”

So when the kids ask to do zip lines, ropes courses, or whatever else wild adventures are presented - I can be an active participant.

Imagine where you’d be in a year from now if you just started with one foot in front of the other today.

Just. Get. Started.

Info on where we were:
We did both expert courses over at Flying Rabbit Adventures before weather kicked us out. They allowed us to reschedule for another day, which was awesome!!

Not the greatest pic of either of El or me, but I didn’t take my phone on the course with me…so no fun pics for you. 🤣 Just imagine me sloth crawling down one rope and then butt scootin down another obstacle. 😂

I’ve recently had an uptick in inquiries from women in their 60s, 70s, and beyond and I.AM.HERE.FOR.IT.

My oldest client is 81 and over the last few weeks she’s already noticed improvements in her energy, mobility, confidence, and overall day-to-day movement.

THAT is the kind of stuff that pumps me TF up. Like happy dancing and acting a fool.

While I truly love working with women of all ages, there’s something incredibly special about helping women stay strong, independent, capable, and confident as they age.

Being able to carry groceries, get up off the floor, walk without fear, keep up with grandkids, travel, garden, and continue living a big, badass, beautiful life.

I also know starting a fitness routine for the first time can feel intimidating, especially if gyms have never felt comfortable or welcoming.

That’s why I offer in-home personal training and assisted stretching sessions...so you can move, learn, and build strength in the comfort of your own home without the pressure or overwhelm of a gym environment.

You are not “too old” to get stronger. And it is never too late to start taking care of yourself.

I would be honored and all sorts of over-the-top excited to work with you - regardless of your age.

This week's availability!!!

How does signing up with me work? Welp, it's super duper easy!

1. DM or text me and then actually respond to me when I respond to you. LOL! Kinda critical to the mission.

2. We'll go over a few basics (injuries, current movement, goals, problem areas, etc) and you can ask alllll the questions.

3. We'll get you on the calendar for your first session or two. You are NOT obligated to continue, you're not stuck with the day/time you pick forever and ever, and you don't have to pay for multiple sessions up front.

4. You pay for your session 24 hours before it happens. I show up, you workout, boom. Easy peasy.

Elephant in the room: How much is a session? $70 - no extra charge for mileage, no hidden fees. Just a flat rate of $70/per session.

cardio + salads = staying stuck in the dieting cycle and never making progress

If you’re a woman over 35 still doing cardio + salads and wondering why nothing is changing...
It’s under-fueled and under-muscled.

Your hormones do not thrive on:
• surviving on coffee/caffeine until 1pm
• 1,200 calorie diets
• endless HIIT/cardio
• “being good” all week
• protein like it's an option

So what happens? Cortisol stays high, muscle stays low, blood sugar is a s**t show, sleep is even more off (bc hello. peri/meno ain't doing sleep any favors either), energy crashes, & fat loss stalls.

Then we blame ourselves because we think we, “just need more discipline/motivation/etc.” NO.

Your body is asking for SUPPORT.
Lifting weights isn’t just about aesthetics.
Muscle is protective as we age.

Muscle helps:
✔ insulin sensitivity
✔ blood sugar regulation
✔ metabolism
✔ bone density
✔ hormone health
✔ energy
✔ longevity

You do not need:
❌ another detox
❌ another starvation diet
❌ to annihilate yourself with cardio

You probably need:
✔ more protein
✔ more muscle
✔ more recovery
✔ more consistency

Strength training is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth.

This is exactly the foundation I teach inside Eat Like You Give a S**t and with my 1:1 clients.

This week, I want you to pay attention to your normal, everyday life.

Pay attention to how your body feels doing small things that you normally don’t think twice about.

Can you pick something up off the floor without it becoming a whole production?

Can you get down on the floor with your kids or grandkids and get back up without huffing and puffing?

How do you feel carrying groceries inside? And we all know, we're trying to carry allll the groceries in on one trip. LOL! I'll rip every dang ligament in my arm before I make two trips.

Switching laundry from the washer to the dryer?
Walking up the stairs with your hands full?
Do your knees hurt?
Does your back tighten up?
Do you avoid certain movements because they feel annoying, difficult, or uncomfortable?

These are the tiny little things we usually ignore because they’re just “part of life.” But they matter. A lot.

Because your quality of life isn’t determined by one big/dramatic moment. It’s shaped by how your body handles the small things you do every single day.

So this week, start noticing.
And ask yourself:
Does my body feel capable right now?
Or have I slowly started accepting things that maybe I shouldn’t?

Aging ain't your enemy. Being stagnant and sedentary is.

Favorite Things Friday: Single Product Edition

This may be slightly controversial because I’m always yelling at you to stay off the damned scale. BUT! If you can handle the scale without spiraling, seeing the TRENDS of your journey tells a much bigger story than obsessing over one random weigh-in.

Bc, you didn't “gain 1.5lbs overnight.”

A smart scale + app can help you notice patterns:
• your cycle
• poor sleep
• salty meals
• stress
• soreness from workouts
• dehydration
• all the weird human body things

Seeing your weight trend over time instead of panicking over daily fluctuations can be super helpful and honestly kinda fascinating if you’re a graph-loving nerd like me (& Carla! LOL!)

I personally use this scale and several of my clients do too.
BUT! If having a scale messes with your mental health or triggers obsessive behavior, absolutely skip it. Your health is bigger than a number.

I’m off to Charlotte for the weekend to volunteer at the CureSearch booth at the Taste of Charlotte.

My hike got switched from April (here on the Foothills Trail in the Upstate) to October in Shenandoah (which I’m even more excited about!). Which means, I’ll be back to peppering you with hiking and fundraising posts. IT’S FOR THE CHILDREN!!

Alsoooooo, one of my virtual ladies lives in Charlotte so I get to have dinner with her tonight!! We’ve never met before and I’m so dang excited - bc our energy combined is kinda bats**t. Hahahaha!! We yell at each other a lot. 🤣😅 Wanna know how virtual works?

Your 20s aren’t the peak of your existence and I’m tired of women pretending they are.

Since I was around 30, women 5–15 years older than me would say things like:
“Just wait.”
“It all goes downhill.”
“Enjoy it while you can.”

What a s**tty thing to keep passing down to younger women.

YES. Bodies change. Hormones change. Recovery changes. Life changes.

But blaming “aging” for what's actually:
years of stress
no muscle mass
poor sleep
chronic dieting
under-eating
dehydration
never learning how to actually take care of yourselves

Meanwhile, I’m 42 (43 in August, maybe) and I feel better than I ever have.
I’m stronger.
I move better.
I don’t wake up feeling like my body got hit by a bus every morning.
I don’t ache all day long.
I’m not exhausted 24/7.
(Ok, MOST of the time. I'm still 42 and not THAT magical.

And I genuinely think a huge part of that is because I
✔️ strength training properly
✔️ eat enough protein
✔️ walk consistently
✔️ prioritize sleep
✔️ recover instead of running myself into the ground
✔️ build muscle

Also, no one talks enough about how freeing getting older can be:
better boundaries
more confidence
less tolerance for bulls**t
more emotional stability
caring WAY less what people think
finally knowing who you are

I’m not trying to be 22 again.
22-year-old me was surviving on vodka sprites, self-consciousness, and under-eating followed by bingeing.

This version of me is stronger. Smarter. More grounded. More capable.

Aging isn’t the enemy.
Neglecting yourself for decades is.
