🐴 Slowing Down. Showing Up. Building Connection.

We loved welcoming the Youth Rural Service Trip from Nazareth Lutheran Church to Strides for a hands-on experience exploring our mission and vision.

But this wasn’t just about learning about horses.

It was an opportunity to slow down and notice what happens when we become more intentional about how we show up—in our communication, our relationships, and our everyday interactions.

Through time with the horses, the group explored ideas like trust, consistency, boundaries, connection, and follow-through. Instead of simply talking about these concepts, they had an opportunity to experience them and think about how they apply to relationships with other people.

There is a faith connection here, too.

So much of serving others begins with being willing to slow down enough to truly notice the person in front of us. To listen. To be present. To follow through. And sometimes, simply to walk alongside someone.

We are grateful to Nazareth Lutheran Church for spending time with us and being willing to learn, participate, ask questions, and experience a little of what makes the work at Strides so meaningful.

Because sometimes making a difference doesn’t begin with doing more.

Sometimes it begins with slowing down enough to connect. 🤍

Welcome to the Chore Crew, Adelynn! 🐴💙

Our Chore Crew plays an important role in caring for our animals and helping keep their daily routines consistent. We’re excited to introduce our newest member!

Hi, I’m Adelynn, and I’m excited to be joining the Chore Crew at Strides Equestrian Therapeutic Center!

I have always loved animals. Growing up, I had bunnies, and now I have three dogs. Caring for them and getting to know their different personalities has brought so much happiness into my life. They have taught me how loving, loyal, and special animals can be, and I have grown to appreciate them even more.

When I’m not at Strides, you can usually find me playing basketball, running, traveling, fishing, spending time with my family, or doing just about anything outdoors.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work at Strides, and I can’t wait to continue helping care for all of the animals!

Please help us give Adelynn a warm welcome to the Strides team! 💙

Much of the work that changes lives happens quietly.

It happens in the administrative work that keeps schedules, communication, paperwork, and countless details moving forward. It happens through the creativity and expression encouraged in Art Wellness, the small steps toward greater independence practiced through Skill Development, and the breath, movement, and connection supported through Yoga Wellness.

It happens during equine sessions and therapeutic riding, in early-morning feedings, in stalls cleaned when no one is watching, and in every moment a provider prepares, listens, adapts, and continues showing up.

This Labor Day, we pause to recognize all of it—the visible work and the work that often goes unseen. Every role matters. Every thoughtful effort contributes to something larger, and meaningful work is never accomplished alone.

To our administrators, providers, chore crew, volunteers, families, community, and the horses who share this journey with us—thank you for helping make Strides what it is.

Happy Labor Day from Strides. 💙🐴

Caring for Classy 🤍

Our sweet girl is getting some extra care and a good hoof soak today. She may not love every minute of it, but she’s being such a patient girl while we help her feel better. Send Classy some love! 🐴💕

A very happy Dutton update! 🐴💙

Dutton has found a wonderful family who already loves him so much. Seeing him being ridden, loved on, and settling in with his new herd makes our hearts incredibly happy.

Letting a special horse move on to a new home is always bittersweet, but these photos remind us that sometimes goodbye is simply the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. Dutton is loved, cared for, and right where he belongs.

We are so excited for all the rides, adventures, and memories ahead for Dutton and his family. He will always be a special part of the Strides story! 💙

What can a horse teach us about boundaries? More than you might think. 🐴

Horses communicate constantly—through movement, body language, distance, and subtle changes we can easily miss when we aren’t paying attention.

Working alongside horses gives us the opportunity to practice something that can be difficult in everyday life: noticing another’s signals while also becoming aware of our own.

Are we listening? Are we communicating clearly? Are we respecting space? Can we stay connected while still honoring a boundary?

These are skills that can carry far beyond the barn—into our friendships, families, schools, workplaces, and everyday relationships.

💙 Sometimes the horse isn’t the lesson. The relationship is.

At Strides, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens through experience. 🐴
