Hiked It

Hiked It A page designated just for all you trail walkers, runners, hikers and people looking to take their dogs on a new adventure. Comment or add your own trails

It started off as just exercise for the dogs and turned into a rekindled relationship with nature and the outdoors. You hear us talk about these trails and hikes. Now I've set up a page where we can post maps, pictures, messages and maybe get together. I've lived in RI for about a solid 25 years. I have never been more amazed at whats "behind the scenes" shall I say. It really is like a whole new

world out there. Away from the chaos of the everyday "rat race"

Depending what you like there are so many options. They have everything from rock climbing trails, mushrooming, historical cemeteries, walks by the water or thru a farm from the 1800's. Most of these places, if not all of them listed are dog friendly. I have 2 large german shephards let I let run off leash. They have an absolute ball running around and soaking up the fresh air. Its great exercise!! So get out there, enjoy, share your thoughts if you want and who knows, maybe you will find a new interest for something as well.

****IMPORTANT SIDE NOTES ***
THERE ARE TICS in a lot of these places. Most are in the woods. Please use common sense people.

1. If you have a dog, please make sure that they have some sort of flea and tic prevention. It wouldn't hurt to bring bug spray for yourself.

2. There are hunting grounds. Beware of the seasons for all types. Don't wear Camo unless your the one that's hunting, Bright colors for you and your animal if you want to be home for dinner.

3. Pack a backpack for snacks, drinks, maybe a mini first aid kit

Part of Ram Tail trail. I didn't know the background of this place until I went home. Its apparently haunted, but the stone foundations from early 1800s are amazing.

Actually, it’s hard NOT to find a good foliage view in Connecticut when autumn rolls around. But there are some standouts that you might want to seek out.
