The Maury River Hunter Trials will be at the lovely Penmerryl Farm in Greenville, VA for the second year. Penmerryl has a beautiful outdoor cross-country course, stabling, and a bed & breakfast available for competitors and spectators. The event is open to foxhunters and non-foxhunters as well as spectators. This is a great event for hunter show folks looking for outdoor course experience, hunter
derby competitors, eventers, foxhunters and pleasure riders -- we offer something for those who've never competed as well as seasoned campaigners. Organized by the committee of Donald Clark, Brooks Cushman, Brent & Liz Hall, and Laura Hunt, with Gammon Castellvi of GC Equestrian as our host and event secretary again for 2017, there will be flat classes, hilltoppers (non-jumping), a leadline class, "puddle jumpers" with 18" natural fences, 2'6" and 3' divisions, handy hunters, hunt pairs and hunt teams, as well as appointments and turnout. For more details, see previous year's prize lists with 2017's prize list to be up closer to the event. Championships will be offered to the hunt whose members accumulate the most points, as well as overall champion. Highlights are the Melvin Poe Championship and the Cliff Hunt Memorial Championship. If you're not riding and just want to enjoy the outdoors with your friends, come tailgate with us. The Maury River Hunter Trials is run with the help of and for the benefit of three local hunt clubs: Glenmore Hunt, Rockbridge Hunt, and the Farmington Hunt Club.
